Interent connection problems
So as of yesterday i'v been having a lot of internet connection problems. It's either very weak, 20-50kb/s for downloads when i usually do 200kb/s+, going out completely or disconnection every few minutes only to reconnect almost instantly. I know its not the wireless internet and antenna itself cause i get perfect connection on my laptop when i place it right next to my computer. So i'm guessing its something wrong with the computer itself. My comp is 4+ years old and i just updated the networking driver last week. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Interent connection problems
I doubt it's the driver. If it were, the problem would have started when you first installed it.
As far as the age of the computer is concerned, it usually doesn't play a role in the speed of you internet connection. Age usually shows when running games or applications.
Lastly, since it's been just one day, it could very well be that your internet is just having a bad internet day. This is usually a problem with your ISP. They could be updating hardware or software. The best thing is to wait a couple of days to a week and see if the problem continues. Also, it would help if you could list your PC specs including modem and router.

Re: Interent connection problems
Its not the ISP because the computer in the other room which has the wired connection, and my laptop with the same wireless connection have perfect internet. Its only on my computer that its having problems. I'v always had off/on connection but its never been this bad, just slow and sketchy when i'm on the internet but fine during online games. A speed test gave me 2.46 mb/s if that helps any.

Re: Interent connection problems
Could be the USB network adapter going bad. First, try plugging the adapter into a different USB port for a few days; USB ports can have intermittent problems. If the problem persists, then try the adapter on your laptop or another desktop.
