BSOD with crossfire 6870
well it just had to happen, bad day gone worse
after been slammed by a truck in the back of my car comming back from work i thought that day could not get any worse for me
Guess again ..i ordered two of AMD's new 6870 Sapphire cards, they were delivered by UPS the werry next day
I pulled them out of the boxes and put them in my PC ,doublle check on everything crossfire cables ,PSU
turned the PC on and then when it rebooted put the CD with the new drivers inside
Instalation went fine ,they were recognized as dual GPU's by Windows 7 ultimate and then 5 seconds later ...out of the blue BSOD
Tried to restart the PC Windows loaded fine but after 5 sec same BSOD and restarting all over again.
After a countless times of restarting and crashing i pulled them both out and stick my 4870x2 inside it worked like charm
now i am stuck with two of them and i would dont know how to fix the problem
I tested the GPU's on my brothers PC and guess what same thing happens ,but on his PC the cards are not even recognised
Mobo is a Assrock extreme something 8Gb of Ram Kingston HyperX PSU is 800W Coolermaster RealPower
All sugestions are welcome
P.S. I also downloaded the newest drivers from AMD same thing all over again, but now the instalation could not even be complete, it would stop in the very begining after a message has been displayed :Hardware not recognised

Since this is new hardware, you may need to flash your BIOS. An outdated BIOS may be the reason your Brother's PC won't even recognize the cards.
As for the BSOD, it could be a power issue. If you have a failing or underpowered PSU, you would likely get crashes.

Flash your Bro's BIOS and see if the cards are recognized.

Re: BSOD with crossfire 6870
Bios on both PC are fine ,the latest one, funny thing i put one card inside and switched the cables from the PSU and one card start working stable for an hour and a half ,on the other card the fan it is not starting at all i gues that one is delivered faulty. Anyway they picked up the broken one today and replaced it with a new one both of them are running fine now and stable . Score at 3Dmark06 25678 pts which is not bad i guess for a mid range cards.
Thank you all
