    Screw EVGA

Never again will I buy an EVGA product. Simply put, they are over priced and made with cheaper components than MSI. Now, before the EVGA fans start to hate on HeavyG, please let me explain...

I purchased an EVGA card due to the lifetime warranty and the step up program. Since I upgrade my graphics card once every year and a half, I was not too concerned with the warranty, but I really liked the idea of the step-up program. I purchased my two EVGA GTX 460 Superclocked cards two months ago. I was looking to step up to an GTX 460 FTW edition or a GTX 470 and just pay the small difference in price. Well apparently the "step up" program is more of a "step down".

The list below are the products available to step up to:

    Graphic Card
    EVGA GeForce GTX 580 (015-P3-1580-AR)
EVGA GeForce GTX 460 FPB (Free Performance Boost) (768-P3-1360-TR)
EVGA GeForce GTX 460 1024MB FPB (Free Performance Boost) (01G-P3-1370-TR)
EVGA GeForce GTS 250 HDMI (01G-P3-1145-TR)

So unless I want to pay $300 and step up to the brand new GTX 580, I am pretty much fucked. I would have been better off buying the MSI card, which is made with military grade components and overclocks above 900 MHz. The GTX 460 FPB editions are a lower model card than I already have.

So I will just keep my two GTX 460 cards. They are fine, but I paid a higher premium for the EVGA "scam", which is the lifetime warranty and step up program. Just make sure you read in to what you can "step up" to before you buy from EVGA. It sounds like a good idea, until you actually try to step up.

So, because you didn't do your homework and read the fine print, they scammed you?

They scammed you, because they stymied your efforts to game a loss-leader program?

All of the GF100 series components are being retired in favor of the GF110 chips. Not issuing new GF100 components not only makes good business sense, it's the only thing they can do. All of the GF100 step-up cards are existing stock.

And, I would like to point out that they're offering to take $200USD off the price of a brand-new card that just shipped a few days ago (the 580). Some scam that is. Step-up is designed for people who want to make a big switch, not someone who bought a mid level trim and wants the top drawer card on the sly.

You are wrong in so many ways... You obviously didn't pay attention. I already have a better GTX 460 than the cards that are being offered to step up. The ONLY card above mine is the GTX 580.

When I got the card, there were several other cards available for step up... including the 470s and other levels of 460s (the 1GB superclocked and FTW models). It has NOTHING to do with me not reading the fine print. It has everything to do with the cards available to step up to at the moment are either worse than mine, or will require me to pay a $300 difference.

Don't say I didn't do my homework. The cards being offered are no step up, with the exception of the GTX 580. What kind of step up program is that when they clearly have other cards that are higher models than mine? It isn't my fault the changed the cards you can step up to.

Saying the step up program is designed for those that want a big switch is just retarded... Look at the cards they are offering and YOU tell me they are for a "big switch". The step up program is a joke. I shouldn't have to pay $300 to "step up". That is more like a "jump off", or "shove up your", if you ask me.

Either way, no more overpriced EVGA products for me. I think I will go with MSI for NVidia and Sapphire for AMD.

And I have 36 days left... hopefully something better will come along so EVGA can redeem themselves.

No, you. Let me break it down for you:

Read that a few times until you understand what it means.

You bought the salisbury steak at the buffet with the intention of upgrading it to the top sirloin or the filet mignon later on. Unfortunately for you, time marches on and the kitchen began making pork dishes, because the beef wasn't quite finished as a product.

Now, you're bitching that the company scammed you when you saunter on back up to the buffet and find out all they have left is hamburger.

Get over yourself, dude. When you bought the cards, 4xx series GF100 production was in full swing. GF100 cards have been out of production in anticipation for GF110 series cards for at least the last several months. All EVGA has in the back are the leftovers now that the 5xx series is officially launched, so that's what they offer to you. They don't have new 4xx cards to offer you, and it would make absolutely no business sense at all to make/carry upper-tier 4xx series cards in stock when trying to gear up for 5xx series production, especially in a luxury high-dollar product like video cards.

Your boat sailed, and now you need to whine about it and make it the company's fault. Especially, since in spite of all that, they're still offering you a deep discount on those new pork dishes arriving very soon.

The nose, you are cutting it off to spite the face.

Okay, you are seriously not getting it. You points don't make any sense. Telling me to "get over myself" also makes absolutely no sense. You are acting like a douche and trying to insult me because I have a certain opinion over EVGA. Like I said, I was planning on upgrading to the GTX 470, which WAS available to step up to when I purchased my card. Don't assume that you know my "intentions". You don't know shit, and you are making assumptions about me, which makes you an ignorant buffoon. Do us both a favor and just stop.
I paid over $400 for my two cards and was planning on stepping up to GTX 470's for an extra $180-200. Tell me what is wrong with that? Now for me to upgrade BOTH cards, it will cost me fucking $600!!!! That is not a STEP UP... that is a completely different platform all together. And look at this link, jackass:

EVGA | Products | Product List

Again, you are wrong. You have backed up nothing with facts, other than the ones you are pulling out of thin air. EVGA has plenty of 400 series cards still available. 18 different 400 series cards still in stock and available for purchase, to be exact. Get off of your high horse, stop assuming you know shit about me and my intentions. If you have any clue about me and who I am, you would realize that if I wanted the expensive top end cards, I would just fucking buy them. I am no high school kid punk that can't afford high dollar hardware, but I DO know a good raping when I see one. I NEVER had any intention of buying a high end card, let alone spending $1000 for two of them, but stepping up from two GTX 460s to two GTX 470s was a modest jump.

The only thing I need to get over is idiots that don't have a clue. Your clever use of idioms is also getting old...

I stand by my original post. Buyer beware if you are getting an EVGA GTX 460 card and are expecting to step up. You will end up paying 1.5x what your original card cost to step up into anything, which is in no way a good deal to the consumer. At this point, if you want a good GTX 460, there are other manufacturers that sell better, higher rated (performance) cards than EVGA's for less money. I recommend the following:

MSI N460GTX Hawk Talon Attack GeForce GTX 460
Newegg.com - MSI N460GTX Hawk Talon Attack GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

This card is reaching core clock speeds of 900MHz when overclocked, which is something the EVGA GTX 460 FTW struggles to even come close. And since you can't "step-up" the EVGA card without paying an extra $300, the MSI card is a better purchase for the gamer that is NOT looking to spend $1000+ on graphics cards.

    Re: Screw EVGA

Current step-up cards. At least EVGA is pulling some better hardware out (GTX 470). I am not sure these are worth upgrading to from my GTX 460 SuperClocked editions, but I love being right...

    Graphic Card
    EVGA GeForce GTX 580 (015-P3-1580-AR)
    EVGA GeForce GTX 470 (012-P3-1470-AR)
EVGA GeForce GTX 460 SE Superclocked (01G-P3-1367-TR)
EVGA GeForce GTX 460 SE (01G-P3-1366-TR)
EVGA GeForce GTX 460 FPB (Free Performance Boost) (768-P3-1360-TR)
EVGA GeForce GTX 460 1024MB FPB (Free Performance Boost) (01G-P3-1370-TR)

    Re: Screw EVGA

Not sure why this thread was locked, but I unlocked.

With the release of the GTX 570, EVGA has included this in their latest lineup for step-up cards. It will only cost me $130/card to upgrade, which is much more reasonable than paying $300 per card upgrading to the GTX 580.
