    Video card/Power supply issues

Well I got a new computer for christmas but it came with a weak power supply and video card. So I swapped my old power supply and video card over but I still need to get data off the old computer. So I stuck the new Video Card and the new power supply in there.

Now when I boot up all the fans whir and spin, I can hear the hard drive's activate BUT the monitor doesnt "wake up", when it was unplugged the no signal dodad was bouncing around, so I figure it must recognize the card... Im 95% sure everything is plugged in correctly.

The hard drives are in raid formation, both have a cord plugged into the motherboard, and a power supply 4 plug. The motherboard has the 20 pin connector to the power supply and the 2x2 4 pin for the video card. Im pretty sure there wasnt anything else plugged in that I had to unplug to move the power supplies around.

Anyway.... Anyone have any hints? Is the powersupply to weak to power up all this old tech? Or did I plug something in wrong? Dunno if its any help but I have an old antec case (cant find it on newegg or the antec website) and it has 4 lights on the front, normaly the green "all's good light" is on but currently only the third light activates its just a roman numeral 1 "I".

If anyone has any hints that could make this easier on me that would be awesome. If not il just swap the power supplies and the video card again and dump data then reswap.

What kind of inputs do you have on the card DVI/VGA? Try swapping the type of cable your using and see if you get something different. I know it sounds weird but i had an issue like this once where plugging in the vga cable got me a vid signal then reversing it to the dvi worked.

I'd wager that your old power supply is under-powered for your old system, and why the video comes up blank.

Gonna try an ancient video card to see if that will load it up. If it cant il just swap the video and power supplies, transfer the stuff then swap again

Make sure you didn't miss any power connections on the motherboard.

    Re: Video card/Power supply issues

Well swapped the power supply and video card back into my old computer it still wont show anything on a monitor. It also doesnt seem to be doing a full boot. Im stumped and quickly loosing my patience with this. Im checked all connections and they are solid. Got power to both harddrives, got SATA cables connecting both HD's to the motherboard, although the connection at the drive seems flimsy... Got pins connected all over the place for the motherboard power and the video card has a 6pin connection...
