I'm on my phone but from what I can tell the answer is no. An AM3 CPU is not compatible with AM2+ socketed mobo I think. (You can easily Google a definite answer on that). But I am also going to doubt you mobo would support that CPU. You might want to take a look inside and see what brand/model mobo you have and see if it supports that particular CPU. Also, some mobos only support a certain maximum wattage from a cpu.

Dude. That link you gave has all the info you need. Scroll to the bottom and click the "motherboard specifications" or whatever it says. it tells you exactly what it will support.

Socket AM3 if you read this it sounds like am3 procc are compatible with am2 and am2+ sockets

I know its say that only reason I ask is that it say socket type am3 so does that mean am3 is compatible

    Taken from Wiki:
AM3 processors work on AM2+ motherboards due to the presence of both the DDR2 and DDR3 memory controller

BUT, I believe there has to be a BIOS update, or something.

I'd assume so...but read what I quoted. If the CPU cannot exceed 2.6 GHz, then the CPU you linked from Newegg won't work.
