Another reason I didn't go Sandy Bridge

I rarely get bleeding edge chipsets. And this is why. Something is invariably wrong with them and they get replaced, fixed, recalled, SOMETHING.

Lo lgreat, And i was gonna buy a sandy bridge for my new rig, So whats the better option here for intel processors? an older i7?

Or should i just wait and buy my CPU last?

Latter option would be a good one... It looks like good tech. Jus has issues right now.

Latter part of the month they will be shipping good silicon to manufacturers so probably end of march the old stuff will have all been pulled.

Ok then ill do the CPU very very last. God i cant wait for this build its gonna be a monster computer. haha i was actually looking at the Thermaltake Level10 case till i saw the pricetag.

It's the motherboard chipset that has the issue, not the Sandy Bridge processors themselves.

So then how will u kno whether u buy something that will work or not? By just waiting and seeing what happens

The same way you'd know if you bought a defective processor or not... You likely won't know, unless the retailer specifies that it's 'fixed'.

not much to see here except you may need to get a new MOBO if you already got one for LGA1155

Not much to see except a BILLION DOLLAR problem for Intel. Even intel says it's unlikely you'd see the issue, but if you are like me and have a bunch of sata drives, you would. So it's best to not touch sandy bridge motherboards with a ten foot pole until you can be sure that you can get one that's fixed.
