You wont be happy with how that machine plays games at ALL unless you look into shelling out the dough for a high end graphics card. Its either the 6core processor or gaming ability for a 1000$ budget, you wont get both without sacraficing heavily, especially if you go prebuilt. Thats my 2 cents. If you want that mystical build, you will most likely have to build it yourself.

the other question i had....I remember Power Supply watts being issue to help ensure everything will run...is that still a major concern?

Re: Real Recommendations for All New Desktop PC
If you are building it yourself you should always use a power calculator online (im sure someone has a good one somewhere..) to check and see how much power you need for the components. If you buy prebuilt they shouldn't send you a machine that is underpowered but its not a bad idea to check and make sure. Especially if you want it 'future proof' a larger power supply will allow greater expandability to better GFX cards etc.

Check out this graphics card comparison. The dual 5570 setup is just slightly better than the 3 year old 8800GT. The low priced 5770 and GTX 460 beat out the dual 5570s in every test.

I am still confused as to what benefit you think you will be getting from the hex core vs a more affordable quad. Unless you are going to converting BluRay rips left and right, you are not going to see much benefit.

There is almost no reason to go dual cheapo these days, unless you want to say get a single 460 and then add one later on.
For gaming I would stick with quad core and up the GHz to price point.

Re: Real Recommendations for All New Desktop PC
2x 5570 in crossfire is FAR FAR from future proof... I can't actually find any benchmarks for those 2 cards in crossfire because they would be most likely suited for integrated graphics replacement in something like a HTPC, not a gaming machine...

If I lived in Houston Digital, I'd build the damn thing for you. It's real simple math, if you go pre-built you're going to pay more for a lot less and if you don't accept what we're telling you about the graphics card, you're going to regret a bad decision. BF3 is coming and you don't want to be left out, trust me.

There's a guide from TTP that I'm trying to get imported over here right now that would show how to build your own PC. The method of importing hasn't worked for me, or I would have already done.
Of course, if someone wants to write a new guide on how to build your own PC that would be awesome, too.enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P
Bigdog-Sweet home Alabama you are an idiot.
