I can't tell from his thread exactly how long it took."A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed."

I did it recently. Depending on which card you are stepping up to, it will place you in a queue. I stepped up both of my cards to the GTX 570s, but was was like #200 in queue. It took about 2 weeks to get to the point where my cards were ready.
From that point, you will be cardless from the point you ship your card to them and until you receive your replacement. It took approx 2 weeks using UPS Ground (5 days each way). Obviously, you could get it faster if you upgrade the shipping to 2nd Day Air or 3 Day Select. I didn't feel like paying $40+ to ship them.
Also, make sure someone is home to sign for the card when it arrives as they ship it back to you adult signature required. I was home all day long, stepped out for lunch, and BAM, UPS Info Notice stuck to my door. I called them and had the package held for pickup at my local package center as I didn't want to wait until Monday for the next attempt.
Overall, I am not impressed with the Step-up program. It cost me more than I originally anticipated, which isn't a big deal, but I would prefer if they send the new card first, so I am not stuck without a card for 2 weeks. I would even pay them the difference so there is no risk, and have them refund me once the return cards are processed. In addition, I paid $209 each for my GTX 460 cards and they only gave me $179 each for them because that was the new market value. I could have sold them on eBay for almost that much and could have avoided the 2 week delay.
Oh well, in the end, I love my cards.

Oh, Vafa, it only took a day or two before they sent my other card out. It arrived in Cali on Friday, and it was shipped out the following Monday.

Thanks for the info guys...boxed up the 480 gtx yesterday....ground shipping it won't be there until next monday and their turnaround time is 1-3 days. Do you know if they ship ground back?
BAH...It may be up to 10-14 days before I get my 580
So....I gamed on my 1 yr old laptop yesterday (havent gamed on it in a WHILE) and my GPU temps were 90-100+ making my fps 10-30. I guess laptop GPUs can't take the heat....gotta call shitty dell when I get home from work.

Re: EVGA Step Up
yeah my alienware was so clogged up with dust that it's gpu was running well over 120c not long after start-up.
Tore it down to bare components and re-silvered the cpu and gpu and cleaned it all out... runs around 55c now and never over 65c even at full load.
