Perplexing PowerPoint Puzzle
Any powerpoint gurus?
In general I am used to MS Office being illogical, full of bugs, and not very efficient to use. Usually I just overlook the bugs and work around them. But this one is driving me crazy, and I don't even know why. Check the file below:
http://bit.ly/gDS8za
It's a blank presentation, blank master slide, and only one blank slide. However, take a simple string of unformatted text, copy it to your clipboard, and then copy it from the clipboard to my PowerPoint slide. It will show up in the slide as bold and yellow. The default text style for the file is black, not bold, and a different font and size altogether.
Where is the bold yellow paste format being controlled by? Is it just a glitch? Looking at the empty slide, you may just wonder why I don't start a new file instead. Well I would, but the empty slide is actually a piece of a much larger presentation that I must work with (I deleted EVERYTHING in the presentation except for the file itself). It is very frustrating working with this large presentation where everything I paste into it is yellow, bold, etc. I was not the original author of the file either... so no clue where the yellow could have come from.
Any ideas?

I don't know, but I think it might actually be file specific. Have you tried just making a whole new document and seeing if it happens? It didn't on mine.
I looked at everything I could think of, and I couldn't get it to stop doing it other than making an entirely different document. Then it goes away.

I've already tried that, but thanks. It doesn't work. The original presentation is many pages. I intentionally wiped it clean down to 1 slide and saved as a copy just for troubleshooting. Even if I delete ALL slides, and all master slides, and then paste in slides and master slides from another clean presentation, the yellow pasted format still continues.

Ah, that might be a work around. I had considered manually cutting and pasting all the crap to a new file but seemed like too much work. Your way seems like a one click operation.
But it would still irk me that I can't get to the bottom of this bug. :-P Just another work around, even if it would be a permanent "fix" once I was settled into the new file.

Re: Perplexing PowerPoint Puzzle
Basically if you started this ppt off and you changed the font style, its going to stay that way for the rest of the file life until you change it...
