Windows Security Center / Security Essential Issues
So for some reason my laptop decided that Windows 7 doesn't want to use security software anymore.
I had Essentials on and working but now it won't load, or rather it pops open and closes immediately. I went to services and discovered that the security service is disabled so I set it to automatic and start it, etc. Every time I restart my computer the service is disabled, essentials won't work... and when I try to use the action center it won't let me start security center either. Oh and occasionally when I try to start Security Essentials the security service tends to crash as well.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, used norton's cleaner thing to remove any of their previous installs, and mcafee's as well. I've tried just about everything I can find on google, and what seems to magically fix everyone else's problems doesn't seem to work for me. I also don't have restore enabled so I can't rollback.
Oh and I've also done malware checks through malwarebytes and spybot... Any suggestions to get this shiz working again? I'm starting to go crazy.

Re: Windows Security Center / Security Essential Issues
I haven't tried safe mode, but it seems crazy to have something nasty when I've had the laptop for all of 2 weeks and haven't really installed squat yet.
Edit: Trying safe mode now though.
Edit2:
So in safe mode security essentials finally opens, but the security center service can not start, and I can't start real-time protection either.
TDSSKiller didn't find anything, and I'm running a full scan with essentials and malwarebytes to see if anything comes up.... Could it be some un-related lingering service that I haven't noticed that prevents these from starting?Last edited by Rawr; 04-16-11 at 03:10 PM.

Re: Windows Security Center / Security Essential Issues
I haven't enabled system restore yet. I'll be doing that once I get all this stuff done, but again.. I've only had this sucker for 2 weeks and really only installed new stuff during the first day or two, so I might just end up reinstalling if I get frustrated enough.
