[CLOSED] BF2 Game-play Issue
Oh wise minds of the hardware forum, please help me solve this most vexing problem.
First off, specs:
ATI 5870 (drivers up to date, no OC)
6 GB 1066 OCZ RAM (no OC)
2.8 GHz core i7 processor (no OC)
24" 1920X1080p monitor
Air Cooled, Antec 1200 case
I can play BC2 with max settings, with I think 4X AA, no issues, what so ever. Naturally, this rig should be able to look at BF2 with max settings, and laugh. Apparently not.
ISSUE:
When I play BF2, every 5-6 mins or so, my game freezes, about half a second bloc of sound repeats, in a stuttering fashion. The screen flashes, to a random, solid color that is in my view in game that fills the screen, for a few seconds, then gameplay resumes. Total time from first loop to resumption of gameplay is approximately 20 seconds (almost every single time oddly enough). This repeats every 5-6 mins.
Needless to say, I should NOT be having this problem with my computer. It can play just about anything with max settings without a problem. So what gives?
Before you tell me to check my graphic card drivers, they are up to date: ATI Catalyst
Any ideas?Last edited by Potemkine; 04-29-11 at 11:39 PM.

Re: [OPEN] BF2 Game-play Issue
The problem with an older driver, is that it affects my gameplay with bc2. Causes the computer to freeze, stuttering, etc.
I dont recall. Its been going on for several months, maybe, December-ish? But Im shooting from the hip with that though. Its been a while since I have played BF2.

Re: [OPEN] BF2 Game-play Issue
Could this be an audio issue? I had something similar occurring a few years ago (sorry, I can't remember the particulars) and I seem to recall it resolving with a new sound card or a change in audio setting. Play with the audio settings in BF2 and see if that helps.

Pote.....first completely reinstall your game. If it persists, i think Vik might be on to something. Not only check your in-game settings, but go in Windows and see what audio outputs you have enabled. This could be an issue with the audio capabilities of your vid card (via an HDMI output) conflicting with your sound card. Make sure the HDMI (and any other unused audio outputs) are disabled in Windows.
