    Missing Boot Manager?!

So yesterday I did a fresh install of Win7 pro 64 bit, and all my settings, games, programs, etc.

Now, for what ever reason, when I hit the power or even restart, the regular mobo stuff loads, then gives me a bootmanager not found error, tells me to ctrl + alt + del to restart. Now I find this incredibly odd, because in the BIOS, the primary boot media is set to hard disk, then I have my 80GB SSD set as my primary hard disk (my C drive), followed by my E drive (seagate 750 GB internal) followed by an external and removable media in that order. As my secondary, I have my optical drive, a blu-ray reader. My tertiary and quaternary are disabled.

Now logically, that tells me, it should be booting to my SSD first, but obviously its not. So when I restart, and I go into manual boot selection mode, I have 3 options; Removable, Hard Disk, Optical in that order. Again, this vexes me because I HAVE NO removable media in any of my slots! When I select the hard disk option, the SSD is the first option, and when I select it, it boots no problem.

The last thing I can think of, is maybe, MAYBE, a mobo update, but I kind of doubt it. Going to go search for it after I post this.

Oh wise techies of the PC hardware forum, help me please!

    Son of a bitch......

So it seems that Windows is reading my E drive a system drive, and thats probably what is causing the confusion.

*grumble* I hope I dont need to reformat....

What does the BIOS see as far as HDDs?

nevermind, apparently you found your issue.

We will now return to the regularly scheduled programming already in progress.

And apparently, Windows is reading my E drive, the 750GB one (which only shows ~698GB for whatever reason) as disk 0. I wonder if that has something to do with it?

Alright, so as soon as my steam games are finished being backed up, Im going to shut down, disconnect me E drive, boot with just the C drive, but boot to the win7 disk and do a system repair.

In about 45 mins from now.

Done. worked. Awesome sauce. Creating an image so I dont have to do this song and dance again.

Thanks to WileE who helped me out with this over steam, and thank you Laggy for your input

    Re: Missing Boot Manager?!

if it happens again leme know, Super Grub2 is a live boot for grub, owns face. Able to fix any problems I've ever had with bm in under 15 seconds, just pop that bad boy in and it does the rest for ya.

Also, if your E drive has a windows folder (from perhaps a old windows install), windows gets finiky. You need to delete any windows folders that are not in-use or your current install. To delete them though, is a pain. You can try to override window's permission lock down which will prevent you from removing any of those system files even from other installs. Really stupid, or just boot into a linux live, mount the drive and kick ass.
