Wait, if you don't need til this fall you should just budget, have the money ready, and when you are absolutely ready to build, then go. There are usually pretty big releases in the summer months if I remember correctly...

Are you building the rig now or waiting for fall ? If waiting for fall its a waste of time putting a PC together now because all the components would have changed & also pricing on present hardware.
Have you got any parts already that you can use for your build ? Post up all the brands & models of what parts you already have,you may be able to save some cash & put it towards a better gfx card or go for an intel build etc,etc...

There are some great games out right now that could also benefit from a beefier system. Waiting isn't always the best idea if your game performance is already falling behind. If you can stomach the recent releases not running that great, then maybe hold out for Battlefield 3. If not, then maybe now is a good time to upgrade. Just do what you think will make you happiest.

As always, waiting will always give you the better system "then", but will leave you with a worse system "now".
