Well this fall I'm going to be building a new rig for battlefield 3.. What I need to know is what parts would I need to build the rig..
I have a wishlist all sorted out but I would like to know if you guys think I need... right now I have a case, motherboard, 2 ram, power supply, video card, disk drive and a hard drive.
What else do I need to do?

It will likely be playable on a 4870, but not great. As stuntmanSLim said, give us a budget and we can come up with a few ideas. From there, the decision is up to you.

Re: Need help
Also, he said "this fall" so just about everything we say will be best for his budget now will definitely change in 3-4 months.
I expect there to be ALOT of great Quad-core CPUs for really good prices in fall. AMD is releasing their next series of chips on the AM3+ platform. These will (probably) compete with Intel's current offerings driving prices down. Regardless it will result in a wide range of quad core offerings.
I was just suggesting that the 1GB 4870 is the minimum recommended GPU. I am not even sure you can still get one today, so its out of the question 3-4 months from now. The way I like to think of GPU buying is that I am going to get the best GPU for $250 bucks. tomshardware.com every month releases a buyers guide that does just that... picks the best GPU for a certain budget.
