Overclockin
well me bein the power hungry person i am ive been tryin to overclock my C2D e6400 from 2.13 Ghz (Standard) to 3.34. truly i dont care if i get it to the 3 Ghz range. now heres my prob. i cant seem to overclock it more than .1 with out it bein unstable. i dont know how to change the volts goin to the processor nor do i want to try with my inexperiance as an over clocker.
System specs:
eVGA 680i Mobo (most expensive one, dont know the #)
Core 2 Duo e6400
truly i guess thats all u need to know.
any suggestions.

This article may be some help. I have not had time to read it yet, but I skimmed it. It does say that on these chips they raised the voltage to 1.475v, but they were using air cooling. They said they could go higher if they had some extreme cooling going on. If you do not want to change the voltage, you will just need to up the FSB bit by bit until you reach the point where it is no longer stable.
Knowing your MB model would help better understand exactly what needs to be done. Also, some Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound may be an extra way to keep your CPU cool when you throddle her up.
Hope this helps.

Welcome to the dark side Blue Thunder
Many motherboards come with utilities that make overclocking a snap
Back in my day, you had to do crazy things like take the chip apart or run crazy BIOSes that made your mobo think that cely was a pentySleep, eat, conquer, meditate, repeat.

Glad to hear everything went ok. I am definately an avid Overclocker. I have an Intel P4 Prescott 3.4GHz. I overclock it from anywhere between 3.6 to 4.0 GHz, depending on the game I am playing. To be honest, keeping this thing as fast of clock speeds has saved me from having to upgrade.
You should also download the program CPU-Z it is pretty sweet. It does not overclock, but it will tell you all the specs of your system without having to go into BIOS.

Re: Overclockin
yes ive had Cpu-z for a long time it is a realy nice program, told what my old mobo was so i could sell it.
i dont use it much now since i have a eVGA 680i Mobo, which comes with ntune. nTUNE ROCKS, never had to leave my desktop and go in to bois to overclock anything.
and now with my latest overclock i got my old 3dmark06 (4436), to my highest by far 5412. ALMOST A 1000 DIF.

Bowling Ball Mortar
Yes, that's right... a mortar that kicks bowling balls down range.
As in 500+ yards downrange.

I. Want. One.
