Bulldozer...
Been reading up on this new Bulldozer AMD processor since the last 2 years. It looks promising, I think (WOW,thats the first).
This is crazy.... 3rd generation bulldozer on server side might have 20 cores. DANG!!!!
We getting to the point were they start putting this shit into iPads, iPhones, tablets, etc.. We can play games that would make Mario Brothers Go Cart cry(man I miss that game)....
Respectfully,

I just wonder what Intel's answer to Bulldozer will be. The Sandy Bridge E chips are coming out soon... should be interesting.

Re: Bulldozer...
Rehashing this a bit I am excited about this ... and the new APU technology. It is good to see AMD coming out with some competitive products again, especially in the high-end CPU's. I was reading about it earlier.
Another reason to hold off my platform change a while ... money just improved a little and I was about to settle on nVidia with Intel, but if the new AMD lineup is competitive against the core-ix I will go AMD with ATI (But I will continue to hate CCC).
It's not bulldozer, but I wanna make an HTPC out of this... it uses around 50 watts so you could drive it with a passive 90watt PSU!

AMD is up to some good things, the APU is an elegant answer to the Atom/ION combo; with one chip from one company replacing a chip and chipset from two others. And the Bulldozer hopefully will live up to or exceed those leaked benchmarks. Maybe a Bulldozer with an integrated high-end GPU (or several) is in the future?

Probably not their answer, but reading about Sandy Bridge and apparently Intel is working on a 22nm chip codenamed Ivy Bridge, using their tri-gate transistors. the targets being for it to improve graphics performance by 30% and processor by 20%.
Then next will be a new microarchitecture codenamed Haswell (2013 planned release).

Not technologically smart in the least bit, but hopefully at least provides a jumping off point to go research? *shrugs*

Personally, I am waiting on the Bulldozer Vs Sandy Bridge E benchmarks before the next upgrade. Its good to see AMD competing at the top end again. Even if you are a hardcore Intel fanboi, you need AMD around to keep Intel from ever doing something like the initial netburst chips again.
Sleep, eat, conquer, meditate, repeat.

Re: Bulldozer...
Ivybridge will be competing against Bulldozer. Compare those benchmarks instead of Intel's older 32nm technology. I would expect it to be a very similar situation to the comparison between Llano to Sandybridge.
AMD has much more die focus on graphics over CPU core/uncore design. If you are thinking of relying on the integrated graphics for any PC gaming above Counter Strike, you might want to check again. Dedicated video cards will still be required for any modern games at high resolution.
Bulldozer will likely do well in the notebook market though.
