Thread: How do you stand the wait?

Wondering what you PC veterans do to pass the time until your parts arrive. Time is ticking so slowly for me waiting for everything to arrive.

I go to Fry's Electronics. I'm to impatient to wait for shipping.

I run through the assembly, troubleshooting, head scratching, Googling, forum searching, and parts RMAing in my head until they arrive.





And then I do all that in real time.

Hibernate.

Check my tracking number about every hour that I'm not hibernating.

Worst part is when your packages arrive in town, no more than 10 minutes away from you, yet they won't be out for delivery until the next day, and likely won't show up until late in the day too.

This, the past two builds I had items arrive on a Friday morning and wouldn't be delivered until monday, even though the truck hasn't been packed and it would have been easy enough to go to the distro center and get myself (too bad you can't pick it up until the first failed delivery attempt). Both times it was a necessary component (when I already had everything else) first was my OS HDD, second time was the processor, which also ended up being RMA'd.

Wow, back on track. I tried to not kill someone while waiting, and did my best to read and do things noncomputer related.

Edit: the HDD one sucked the most because I had a complete tower built and ready to go, just couldn't use it... Well I could have but then I would have been installing an OS twice and some other shit, so it just wasn't worth it.
