Network Settings for BF2and/or BF2142
This is a question for our networking experts.
Are there any settings that can be changed, such as in *.ini files and/or registry settings, to optimize network usage for BF2 and/or BF2142? By network settings I mean min/max packet sizes and that kind of stuff. I believe we have a brief thread on this topic for CS:S and was just wondering if there is anything that BF players can do to squeeze the most from our internet connections. What prompted me to ask this question is the thread regarding connection speeds at http://www.texasteamplayers.com/foru...?topic=11688.0. It would be a shame to spend more on an internet connection when optimizing may be enough to get all the fun there is to get out of an existing connection.
Thanks,
Ed

Test shows WinXP has less lag than Vista due to differences in network stack architecture.

This is not exactly the kind of info I was looking for, but good reading none the less. I do not know if the blogger is biased.

You can config your own network for BF2 and BF2142 in Command Prompt. I read about it in a message board. I'll try and find it as well as the commands to run. It's PB safe too and I hear a whole lot faster. No gaurranttee that I'll find it again.

Greatings Lurkers!
I am pleased to inform you that LM now has its own dedicated weather service, courtesy of our newest addition to the Forum Staff team, Nittany Tiger. He will be giving weather forecasts, tropical updates, weather news from around the world, and more.
So, forget the cheesy Weather Channel. The people there can never provide an accurate forecast. Now, you can get all your weather news here!

Well, accurate to the best of my ability. Sometimes, I will use the NWS for forecasts, but I have forecast tools at my disposal and am basically being trained to be a researcher in the field, which will help me become a better forecaster as I better understand the concepts of Meteorology. In short, I should get better on my own as time progresses. Remember, though, don't crucify me if I'm wrong. We forecast the weather, not control it.
Anyway, I'm setting the forum up right now and will open it up soon to everyone. I think this will be a very fun experience and job for me.
Thank you Amy for proposing the idea and Nuke for making it happen.
Now, let's give The Weather Channel a run for it's money.
Just a final note, I have a contact with someone from The Weather Channel (Greg Forbes), and a former employee (Jon Nese) is now a Professor at Penn State University. Though I'll probably rarely contact them (especially Dr. Nese), it's nice to have some experienced friends from there.
It's time for the weather!

Well either way good luck with it. :Y:
Oh one more suggestion (sue me). You might consider placing it as a sub-forum under news or something a bit more fitting. It looks kind of odd where it is now. It's like:
"Welcome to Lurking Mastermind"
"Weather Channel"
"News"

Kory hunny, its not just for posting weather, its also for posting weather related news stories and events both past and present. Weather fun facts and things of that nature. Its a whole lot of things in one. He may not post stuff for your local area all the time. But I say its a damn good idea and whoever helped and or talked Kyle into it needs a big big hug lol..

Giz, it stays a forum for right now.
Anyway, just in case you don't know this, normal members can make topics in the weather forum. It's a general discussion weather forum as well, so anyone can start a weather topic about anything.
So, if you want to rant about the snow in July, go there and post at thread. Nothing goes on the front page (yet), so if something weather-related is very news-worthy, I may post it in "This is the News."
And since Amy is wanting hugs:
/me hugs Amy.
