Can only press one key at a time

I have a buddy that is trying to get going on BF3, but he has tried 3 different keyboards, and all 3 only allow him to press one key at a time. So if he is pressing W to move he can't also press shift to run. Is there a setting in windows to turn this off/on? The last KB he installed is a microsoft media desktop 1000 wirelsss, and the drivers are up to date.

USB keyboards have a simultaneous key press limit, but it is always higher than 1 (I think 6 is max). There might be a USB related issue going on.

To narrow it down, has he tried a PS/2 keyboard? They work in a different way.

I'm assuming multi-key presses work fine outside of BF3? As in he can type capital letters, ctl+alt+del, etc.

I guess that would be best to establish first.

Yes. I know the last keyboard he tried is supposed to have a 3 key limit, but in BF3 only it is one. No joystick plugged in, kb drivers up to date.

Sticky keys or something like that? I had a customer a couple months ago have a setting where I had to press down for 7 seconds before it would recognize the key stroke.

Most basic Microsoft keyboards will be fine for multiple keypresses. Many logitechs, in my experience, only allow a few keypresses

make sure its not a PICNIC problem, ie tell him to try something else that'd support the conclusion that he can only press one key at a time in bf3, for example tell him to try running forward and jumping at the same time, or running and reloading, or running and strafing, or ____. Make sure its not a binding issue (ie he has his print key bound to a conflicting function, i did this and frostbite 2 went trippy).

I thought bunni was gonna talk about lunch and got all excited. Nothing better then pressing a button on your keyboard and having a sandwich appear.
