Time for a new headset
Well. My loyal SteelSeries 5H's have given up on me... They're held together by hot glue and zip ties now, they've had the bridge soldered back together about 5 times now, but I must part with them since the mic died.... So my question is what's good out there on the market now? I dont want a USB headset so the G35's are out, I may consider them though if I have to. Im looking to spend close to 100 bucks. What y'all thinkin?

Might be a tad more than you want to spend but I can't say enough nice things about the Logitech G930.
Its surround, wireless and the battery lasts almost 9 hours for me. I use it in CS:S, TF2, Call of Duty and every other game I play.
Surround sounds awesome and never had any trouble with it.Rumble

You could always buy the Logitech Desktop mic for $20-30 or the Zalman clip-on mic for $10 and keep using your existing headset. Or spend the rest of the money on some entry level audiophile headphones like the Grado SR-60 ($60-70, I think).

Re: Time for a new headset
I've done something similar. I've never used a gaming headset....not to offend anyone, but I think they're overpriced and overhyped for what you get.
I have this:
Rocketfish Rf-usbmic Digital USB Microphone
I think I paid $17 for it at best Buy.
and these:

If you are going to get a cheap Koss headphone, get the PortaPro. Seriously, look up reviews for it. I doubt you will find one that doesn't slobber all over how good it is for the price. It has been a standard for the past several years, perhaps decade.
E: I haven't read any reviews for the UR-55, so it may be better. I find that the site www.headroom.com has some good guides as to what headphones would work for you at various prices.
E2: haha, holy shit. The PortaPro was released in 1984 and still hasn't been matched in sound quality at its pricepoint.
