Everyone that has been currently participating in our Left4Thursday Shoutcasts, please follow this link to download Mumble. Simple instructions and it takes a minute or two to install.

Why you ask? Firstly, because during shoutcasts everyone participating in the cast: players, cameraman, and casters, will be in the TPG Mumble server. During a tank, the cameraman will magically switch the audio from the casters to the team that is playing the tank. This is called a "War Room". So while in the Infected War Room, the viewers are able to hear the strategy that the team uses for the Tank play. It is a very cool feature and makes the cast that much more interesting.

Secondly, you might have encountered times while playing that the In-Game VOIP was a second or two delayed, thus costing you a hit or wipe. This does not happen with Mumble. Mumble is crystal clear and there are no delays. If you want to continue using in-game while playing regular lobbies, that's your decision, everyone will have to do the same if one person doesn't want to use mumble. But make sure to ask in the future to see if everyone would be up to using TPGs mumble instead of in-game. No harm in doing so.

Downloaded and configured. So all we have to do is start mumble, connect to the address that you provided before we start l4d2 right?

Doing it in that order automatically puts the overlay up in-game, though I'm pretty sure you can turn this off, or just start the game first and there will be no overlay.

Nice! Yes, I usually will get in mumble before I open a game. After you entered in the info for the mumble server, it will automatically save it with the name you gave the address. So every time you start mumble you should see a "Mumble Server Connect" window were you are able to choose what mumble server you connect to.

Don't forget to configure your key binding in mumble to a key to chat with. I use the same key I use in L4D2, but when I am using mumble I temporarily move my l4d2 chat key... as you don't want to double broadcast your voice.

mumble is much less delayed, coordinating with your team is quicker...

I can find the option "push to talk" but I can't find where I can assign a key for this function. I will just keep it voice activated until I get some instructions on how to do this.

Ill message you how to do it over steam. After you set push to talk you to go to Short-cuts than set the function "push to talk" and make the shortcut the key.

you can also go to "Configure" at the top, then click "Audio Wizard" and go through that. If you go through that, it will let you set your push-to-talk. That's one of the steps in it I think.
