Here's an idea. Give each character his own unique melee weapon like Resident Evil did. Give Bill a combat knife, Zoey a taser, Francis a baseball bat, and Louis some brass knuckles or something along those lines. Something to make everyone unique but still fun to use. This of course would require major change in gameplay considering melee attacks would now be a reliable way to kill zombies unstead of just knocking them away. Maybe two melee attacks? One to push and one to kill with perhaps. I'm a die hard RE fan so I'd like to see limited ammo to make this a true survival horror experience.
-More Important: Larger choice of weapons.

-Less Important: Melee weapons, more rifles, and extras.

A knife, sword, baseball bat, crowbar, or/and chainsaw.
Weapon upgrades like:
-Suppressors/Silencers
-Muzzle breaks
-Extended Magazines
-Scopes
-Hollow point and tracer rounds
-Bayonet
-Laser sights
-Different length gun barrels
*If possible make upgrades apply as soon as they are picked up, this way there is no reason to pause the game to customize and waste time. Upgrades should only apply to the weapon you were holding when picked up.
RANT TO STEAM: Remove the stupid 50 round clip on the M16 and put the original 30 back on. Last I checked you were aiming at realism, I would think you know how many bullets most guns hold after the Counter-Strike games. The fifty round clips are not nearly as common, and I doubt you would find one of them if we were in this situation.

There should be a home depo full of nail guns and chainsaws and all that other zombie killing beuty.
heres my ideas for weapons and other useful items
Ak-47 definitely
Ak-103
Extended (and oversized) 50 round clips for pistols (as seen in Mr. & Mrs. Smith ending)
Smoke bomb (disorientates zombies and survivors (if survivors caught in it), increases smoker attack power)
Aerosol can with attatched lighter
flashlights with limited battery life
torches (in conjunction with new flashlights)
mild tranqualizer (knocks out infected, could be used for sneaking by the witch)
energy drinks (temporarily increases speed)
kevlar vests (increases resistance to infected, but automaticly breaks when hit by special infected)
knives (only works when as close as possible, causes instant death in common infected and severe damage to special infected, save the tank. the knife could be used to cr0wn the witch by slitting her throat)
crutch (given to injured survivors to increase speed, but survivors can only use pistol while using crutch; can also be used to bludgeon infected)
fireworks (bright lights and loud noise to attract infected)
ballpeen hammer
spray-on bleach (temporarily masks scent and allows survivors to be undetected by hunters, smokers and boomers range. increases detection by common infected except during horde attacks.)
blood bags (only found in mercy hospital, shooting thrown bloodbags would attract nearby infected to feast on fresh blood, sort of like a pipebomb.)
bars (can be placed across the door handles to more securely hold doors together and increase door life by 1/3)
exploding bullets (to help take down the tank, anyone carying a sniper rifle can hold two clips of these rounds in addition to the normal rifle rounds, each clip holding 10 sploders. exploding bullets would (obviously) explode after entering flesh and cause horrible internal injuries.)
more use pain pills (no one should eat a whole bottle of pills at once, no matter what the pain. pain pills can be used ten times, at intervals of 4 minutes.)
and a special idea my friends say is pretty good,
trauma kit (would be a second medkit spawned 1 time per level and doesnt spawn in easy mode. it would cure a survivor of the bluish-black vision of a double knockdown and give full temporary health, meaning the survivors knockdowns till death are reset to prolong their life. The trauma kit would be red with black stripes and a heart in place of a red cross, and can only be used when a player has less than 10 health or has suffered two knockdowns.)

Like the idea of unique melee weapons, but REALLY like the idea of upgrading your gun! *has been playing a lot of army of two*
I'd like to see more variety in all aspects of the game; more health items, more weapons, more bombs, more special infected.
And as for melee weapons...
A lightsaber. Don't look at me like that.
