i'm running 2 9800 gtx in sli mode when i start the game i get a black screen and hear the sounds. I checked the config files and the resolution is set to 1600/1200 which my monitor can't show. I tried the above methods to no avail. I even right clicked on exe clicked properties and clicked on run it in 640/480 mode. It worked i changed my settings but once i took off run it in 640/480 mode and went in game it would revert back to 1600/1200 and black screen. I am at a loss here lol. Game ran fine on my old geforce 7950's in sli mode so i went and upgraded to 2 new cards and i get screwed for 2 nights of gaming lol.

Are there any other fixes that people have found to resolve intermittant black screens during game play? Kinda frustrated here.

Not trying to be annoying with this, but don't want it swept under the rug and forgotten about. Continuing to have issues with intermittent black screens during gameplay.

If it were resolutions I think this would be a much more wide-spread issue, even if it was specific to the HD 4870 and 16:10 resolutions. I'm not trying to be difficult but I've played the game in 1024x768 and 1152x864 (both 4:3 resolutions) and have the same issues (both with and without advanced graphics options like AA, AF, and so on). The game looked terrible in those resolutions which is why I went back to the 1440x900 that I use for just about everything. =/

Last night I was able to play in both 1024x768 and 1440x900 resolutions without the black screen issue. I don't know if it was the update that was installed or if it was just sheer, dumb luck.

Sorry mate, your video card isn't capable of running the game.

You have a DirectX 8.1 compatiable card, the game requires a 9.0 compatible card for the newer pixel and vertex shaders.
