Please don't bump a dead thread that hasn't been touched in two years.

Creating your own character in a game like L4D is pointless. No character has better speed/accuracy/health than others. There would be no point to it, especially cause the only thing you really seen on your self is your arm.

Not to mention the dialogue between the survivors is funny (i.e. Ellis' stories getting interrupted, Francis hating everything). There could be nothing but general dialogue between them like "Stop shooting me".

I'd have a gang of bikers, including Francis. Maybe about 4 guys and 3 girls.

I think the idea of a create a survivor would kind of costly for both graphics, concept art, and voice actors. But then again, the Soul Calibur franchise uses this engine very well. And it would be cool idea. In fact, why not have a choice between creating either a survivor or infected and allow you to program them in the way you want. For survivors, you could voice commands from a speaker to talk to your team mates.

Hell, I already came up with survivors:

-Koji: a sushi chef who worked in a restaurant in Sydney who got up in the infection outbreak at the wrong time.

-Sam: Zoey's cousin; she ended up in Australia on vacation. Unfortunately, she landed during the outbreak.

-Dan: a ranger who has knowledge of the outback, but not prepared for the outbreak.

-Spike: a troubled band member of the Boi! Toys from LA, he was sent to a correctional program in the hopes of taming him, but his escape from a destroyed program turned into a living nightmare.

Second, if you were allowed to create or modify characters, including new names and new faces, the dialogue system would no longer work (the chatter between characters frequently includes names) and neither would some artwork, such as the loading-screen movie posters, or the HUD character pictures during play.

Do you think before you post?

*edit* By the way, you're the first person I've heard of with bias towards or against any of the characters. In my experience so far (granted, only ~35h according to Steam), nobody's made any comment relating to wanting or not wanting to have a certain character. The only thing that springs to mind was someone making a joke about me having a hot ass while I was playing as Zoey and the other guy was crouched behind me.
Personally I don't think it matters that much if they had that sort of thing happen where you have characters saying names that don't apply or posters or whatever that don't apply but I do think they should have a create your own character at most for left 4 dead 3 seeing as it's too late for the first two and it would give them time to maybe solve problems like that.

Also I don't really need a story for the characters too much (it already gives you a bit and that's fine and if you had your own created character you could just make it up yourself for that matter). ^^
