Yeah, I've always wondered the definition here of 'rare strain of infection'. I see noobs achieve this online all the time when they get puked on. I assume it just means to be puked while being in reach of another survivor. Perhaps someone could shed some more light onto this topic though.

Kagato, i quite like the theory of valve developers having the strain as a boomer. Then progressing to puke on other people, giving them the strain. Then watch it spread.

Im on 360 so I dont get that achievement... lame

Kagato is right, valve is amazing at keeping track of data in their online network. It was something like an experiment to see how fast an infection could spread if there was a real outbreak.

The infection started with the Valve developers, and once one of them boomed on person A, once person A then boomed on person B, person A got the achievement. Then once person B boomed on someone else, person B would get the achievement.

You just need to have someone who has the Outbreak achievement already to puke on you as a boomer.

Thats only half of it.

To get the acheivement you must first be puked on by someone that has the rare strain and already got the acheivement and then you yourself must puke on someone to get the acheivement. You dont get it from being puked on, its you that has to do the puking.

It is a grey area though as to who or how the first person was infected. My guess is that when a boomer pukes on you there is a small chance of being infected with a rare strain of virus. In a thew zombie movies the infection has effected people different like the girl from resident evil for instance.

But yeah i think its just a random chance. Once that player is then infected and pukes on someone else he gets the acheivement and it just passed on from there.

There are other theorys too such as being puked on by a valve employer. On GTA4 one acheivement was given for killing a rockstar employee during online play.
