Joining a Game in Progress (Xbox)
All I do these days is join in progress games, and I've noticed that 99% of the time, the games I join have the difficulty set to Normal. A few times I have joined and when the end-stats came I noticed it was on Easy... but not once have I joined an Advanced or Expert game in progress.
Does anybody know if it is even possible to join Adv/Exp games in progress?
I quit trying to join Adv/Exp in the lobby because without a mic I get kicked 9 out of 10 times.

huh? just put the difficulty on expert and 'join game in progress'. and yes even with a mic people are boot crazy. For example of the mentallity of the booters. I had a mic, and kept getting into the same game with the same 3 people and they kept kicking me. they couldnt get out of the train yard (BH3 i think?) Even an hour later I was put in there game, they are in the same place. No matter how much i helped and tried to reason with them, cause it kept sticking me with them, they booted me for no reason. Finially at the end of my session they sent me an invite, but man too late. some people just dont know whats good for them and boot people cause they think its funny. start a private game if you dont want new people jumping in your game. and dont boot people instantly, give em a chance to fuck up, then boot them if they seem like they are griefing or just being a lousy player. bah!

Well you know... it's not a money issue - I could buy a cheap mic, an expensive mic, a gold-plated mic... I just don't want to wear a stupid contraption on my head just to play a game. I'd rather join an Expert campaign in progress, that way my teammates will never even know I don't have a mic,and by the time they figure it out, they will have seen I am a good enough player to keep around.
A) Because if you're good enough, a mic's not necessary.
B) Because I don't want to talk.
C) Because I don't want to hear other people talk.
No shit? That doesn't sound right, but I'll be sure to look into it the next time I play. Would be cool if it was that easy...

Now matter how good you think you are, whether you are a successful soloist or rambo or not, this is a teamwork-based game, people expect you to communicate in order to progress.
a) If a hunter pounces you and your in the back, you won't be able to talk - the majority of L4D gamers won't even notice and run ahead, leaving you for dead.
b) Same situation with a smoker.
c) You just meleed a boomer towards your teammates but around the corner, you can't tell them to back off in time because you have no mic - they either
- melee him back to you and shoot him, bile covering you
- shoot him, bile covering all of them
or you shoot him while thinking the others are safe from bile but at the same time, they run around the corner as you shoot
d) you turn around a corner and meet a witch face to face with your flashlight in her face, she stands up angry as you backtrack around the corner - now of course, without a mic - you won't be able to inform your team in time, they turn the corner and die from startling the witch.
There are endless possibilities of why you need a mic, and why you will most likely fail to succeed without a mic.
Trust me, get a comfortable headset and things will go oh so much easier.

mics are helpful to have in campaign, but not necessesary
only in versus they are imperative and a must.
usually your other teammates will have figured out that you are pinned/constricted before you die anyway. still, if youre really good you should be able to do fine in campaign, even lacking a mic. (i.e. killing sp. infected without taking any damage)
