Thread: Left 4 Dead Update Released - 13 March 2009

Updates to Left 4 Dead have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include:

Lobby leaders can now specify in lobby settings whether to search for an official dedicated server or for the best available dedicated server. If the official dedicated search fails it will then default to the best available dedicated server automatically

It's a wonderful add-on, I just noticed it today; though I can't say I've had much luck with it.

Unless you get an Australian server you'll get a laggy one, it's just the way it is. I've learned to play with ~500 ping as a standard basically.

Do they have Aussie servers? I thought you'd need a certain technological ability above sheep shearing to be able to run servers...................

I just noticed it today, but all the leaders choose like China and we were from USA

The issue is that servers are not able to update to the master server. This is creating a situation where there aren't enough 3rd party servers (which are located all over and give you an opportunity to play on a closer server). I'm trying to get it worked out, because my servers sit idle after the patch. It is a common problem that we are trying to get resolved as a group of collective server owners.
