Game Pauses for a moment in online mode

I have a strange problem with the game.

When I play online, regardless of how good my ping is, the game will pause sporadically in places where everything just stops moving on the screen and then a couple seconds later things will start again but with everyone moved around. It's like I miss those couple of seconds where I"m not getting any information through.

It only happens online. I have tried disabling multi-core rendering. Tried doing things with my firewall, disabling and enabling, and forwarding ports. Nothing seems to work.

I'm running it on Windows 7 Beta, and everything was working fine up until a couple days ago. I'm at a loss.

    PC Specs:

    Windows 7 Beta
    E8400 Core2Duo @4ghz
    8gbs RAM
    2x4850 Crossfire

    Anybody help?

sounds like u have the same problem as me. and like me, u haven't gotten a response either. what rates are u using? rate, cl_updaterate, cl_cmdrate, sv_maxupdaterate, sv_maxcmdrate?

my rates are somewhere around rate 30000, cl_updaterate 100, cl_cmdrate 100, sv_maxupdaterate 100, sv_maxcmdrate 100, but i have also cut rate and the cl update and cmd rates in half, so 15000 50 50, and same problem then.

    I FOUND A FIX!!!

Well, assuming you are connected to the internet via a wireless network. But your problem sounds exactly like mine, so try this out!

Vista wireless users - you may have a ping spike every 60 seconds! - Steam Users' Forums

^ This thread will explain in detail what the problem is.

    Here's the fix:
    WLAN Optimizer .NET

Click on "WLAN Optimizer .NET v0.10 Alpha" at the top of the page. Otherwise, search google for WLAN Optimizer.

I ran wlanoptimizer and it's FIXED, FUCKING FIXED! :zombie09:

Thank you kind sir! I just always assumed this problem was a random server lag that everyone witnessed at the same time. So glad there’s an actual fix. It seemed to happen at the most inconvenient times too...
