Thread: Game will update, but wont Install?

Hello, my friend is having problems with Left 4 Dead he says the game will update, but it wont install on his computer, weird as it sounds it confusing the heck out of me, and when he try to run it, the game will crash and the computer will restart, along it wont uninstall either. I dont know what he should do.

It updated which means it's installed. Has he tried to delete the file belonging to the game?

would putting the files in the D Drive cause a problem with this?

New: When he trys to login, the message pops up : "logon process has failed to create the security options dialog"

this is one new problem after another for me.

Is this on a Windows Vista machine, and is your friend logged in as an administrator?

This may be a permissions issue...

Are you talking about the recovery drive?

The drive letter that the game is installed on should not make any difference.
