beef up the chapter selection! what do you think?
hello all! had a quick observation i wanted to run by the crowd. hopefully it's an original thread.
ok. so, what's the deal with the chapter selection in vs mode? more specifically, the quick match option. if you're like me, you don't always have the time to start a vs match from the very beginning and play all the way to the end. with two good survivor teams, that could take, what, one and a half, two hours?
also, if you're like me, you like your last level to be the crescendo, or finale, level. they're is a certain degree of satisfaction that comes from your last match being against three tanks, or incapping all the survivors as they try to hold out till the copter/plane/boat/tank-thingamabob comes to rescue them. obviously, this is how the game was designed.
so, if this is the case, why is the player stuck trusting fate will place them in an ideal setting when choosing a quick match. in addition, is it really a "quick match" if the computer randomly places you on NM 1? couldn't i have just joined a lobby instead?
so really, all i'm saying is, why can't i choose the chapter and level i want to play? why does it have to be random? why can't i go to vs, go to quick match, choose NM, and pick NM 3? rather than getting randomly assigned to NM 2, backing out, and trying it all over again. this isn't that big of a deal but it comes up more than i would have thought. any thoughts?

Probably because when you are looking for a versus match it all depends on what lvl the people playing are on?
I'm sure that searching for an open slot in versus at an exact map will prove to be quiet difficult.
Quick match is set up so you "quickly" are put into a game as soon as possible. Quick Match finds the very next open slot in a game. Not a game thats closest to being over with.
Besides, Mr.Cow just gave you a answer. Set up a lobby, choose your campaign and choose the map to start out on. Wait for people to join the lobby and start.

as in creating my own lobby? well, obviously. this is something you could do, and i'm aware of creating my own lobby. but this is not my point, nor my question. how is creating a lobby, inviting friends or waiting for people to come a "quick match?" i'm not arguing about match making in general, just the quick match.

sure. i know about this. but why can't the chapter selection be more specified? why can't it show you a list of possible, open games you could join? the server knows what's available. why not relay that info to the player? thus being quick and tailored to the player's preference.

I agree with you, some people might say It means less traffic for the other levels and loads of people trying to join the finale, but if thats what you want to play, thats what you want to play.
Yes you can. You select versus, select campaign and stage and select, Join game NOT lobby
More importantly what are you trying to accomplish with this thread?

thanks for that lights. i guess i could have posted this thread under rants, but i don't feel like this is a rant per se, just an observation. it doesn't piss me off or anything.
but seriously, why not do this. i'm with you. i also don't think certain levels would get that much more traffic than others, b/c i think a majority of people want to play from beginning to end. and like you said, if you want to play those levels, why should the developers keep you from choosing which levels you want to play, anytime you want to play them?

No, you're not understanding.
At the menu, select Vs. Then you will get another menu that gives you options. Select Play online. Then select the campaign you want to play. When you selected the campaign, hit JOIN GAME IN PROGRESS. That will take you to a campaign that has already started and is not completed. You may get into one that is in the finale, or you may not.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

dude. i get you. and if i didn't know about what you were describing, there would be something wrong with me. what you are pointing out is obvious to anyone who has played the game for more than, say, two minutes.
what i'm saying is, for a QUICK MATCH in VS, why can't we pick the specific level we want to play. thats all. simple.
say i feel like playing DA 3. but i don't want to play DA chapters 1-2. why can't i pick DA 3 and hop in an already established game that is on DA 3 and enjoy a quick match.
