crash's halfway through loading any level :@... any help?
Hey everyone, i've been downloading levels off of Free Maps & Campaigns for Left 4 Dead and L4D2. quite a bit recently but today one of the levels didnt work properly and now whenever i load any level at all, even things like no mercy, it crashes halfway through the loading where there is the 'NO MERCY' poster. BTW i have deleted some of the levels i downloaded to see if it would fix the problem but it hasn't. Also when i load the game up, the main menu options don't come up so all i see is zombies walking around, but when i open the console and then close it again, all the options appear. Any help anyone, all is appreciated

Something must be screwed in your data folder somewhere. Go to steam, right click on Left 4 Dead, and then delete local content.
To be extra sure go to the Steam folder on your computer and delete the entire folder. And then reinstall, should work fine then.

You could do as Phil suggested, or you could first try a Verify Integrity via Steam. That might be a little faster than reinstalling the game. If that doesn't work, then a reinstall sounds like your best bet.

Thanks
Thanks for the tips, but i managed to sort it out after all, it said it wasn't responding half-way through. But if i leave it, it loads. It takes a while for every first load, but if i wanna do a different level or something it's fine, thanks for all the advice though. Much appreciated.
