Sound Loop Crash *onto a fix maybe, need testers*
Ever since i first played L4D I've been getting Sound Loop Crashes, i have tried all types of fixes from mat_queue_mode 0, setting affinity, setting priority, different drivers, running the game on the lowest settings(disabling shadows, shaders, tweaking paged memory pool), lowering audio quality.
I would normally have to alt-tab, or ctrl-alt-delete and pray i could click the game and get back in, but more often than not would end up having to end process. Whilst playing today i had the usual sound loop crash and after being irritated by the sound i tapped the mute button on my keyboard.... well to my surprise my game recovered from being frozen, shocked i tested this multiple times, game would sound loop freeze, id tap the mute button and i could resume killing.
Now, up to this point i always thought i was having an issue with my processor speed which is still possible, or maybe a video problem i still don't know honestly (i have also tried lowering audio quality and such as stated above).
The reason for this post is hopefully for other people who are having this problem other than myself to try to keyboard mute the game (assuming your keyboard has a "Mute" button) as soon as it locks up in a sound loop freeze and see if that will free you up instead of having to alt-tab or ctrl-alt-delete and force end L4D.
(note right now my laptop is hooked up to my 46" flat screen so that is why the resolution is high)
