    Loading takes forever

Wonder if you could help me since my computer geek of a husband clearly looks at me like another work client

For some reason it takes AGES for the game to load in.
Once im in, its great, but naturally, ppl kick me or the other team (when in VS) starts before everyone is ready.
very annoying for me and my teammates.

this also happens in campaign or anything else where i play with others.

I checked Can I Run It and I passed on recommended.
    this is what it said:

    CPU:
    AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+

    CPU Speed:
2.99 GHz Performance Rated at: 6.7275 GHz

    RAM:
    2.0 GB

    OS:
    XP

    Video Card:
    GeForce 8800 GTS
Features: Recommended attributes of your Video Card
    Required You Have
Video RAM 128 MB 640.0 MB
    Hardware T&L Yes Yes
    Pixel Shader version 3.0 3.0
    Vertex Shader version 3.0 3.0

    Free disk space:
    135.0 GB

    ----------------------------------------------

Now we do have one issue with the game, but thats being sorted.
however, im wondering if that might be what causes the slow loading?
i think not because on hubby's comp, on same internet, it loads up quicker :/
we're getting a new ISP because out modem/router from the ISP we got right now thinks l4d and l4d2 is a virues so it keeps restarting the modem at various times (usually loading or in lobby, but not during a game)

any ideas on what causes the slow loading in my case?

One thing you can try is to do a Verify Integrity via Steam, and I would also try doing a Defragment of the game files. I sort of doubt that it is ISP related.

It is also a good idea to do a total defragment of your hard via Windows, if you haven't done one in a while. Your file structure could be scattered all over your hard drive. That would make a LOT of your programs load slowly.

    ok, will try that.
think i might know what it is too but its gonna be the hardest one of all :P
    re-install windows :P hehe
    hate that.
    takes too long
and another thing is prolly that steam is installed on the drive i have windows on, which doesnt help either :P (for the record, it was my idiot husband who did that. I usually install my games in the drive named "Games" . guess it was too hard to comprehend....)

The Windows defrag may help a lot of problems.
