    L4d2 connections problems

    Hello all.

Straight to the point, whenever I try to join online games for l4d2, I am unable to.

I am able to see the games, just when it tries to establish connection to games, it doesn't work.

Have tried multiple times, no success.

    Help!

For starters, make sure you don't have your Windows firewall, or any other firewall software blocking the application. If you do, make sure you add LEFT4DEAD.EXE to your exception list.

I would also open the Steam ports on your router if you have one.

What type of error do you get? Does it tell you that your connection to the Steam master server was lost, or that a connection simply could not be established?

I'd also check your console for errors pertaining to models or files the server enforces consistency for. For example, with all Source-based games, depending on server settings the server may require that all users attempting to connect are using default skins/models. Also, if you're missing a default model (incomplete installation of the game) sometimes servers just won't let you in. Hence, I recommend you try to verify the integrity of your game cache files, and if any new files are downloaded run a quick defrag of the cache files (defragging your disk also helps but isn't necessary).

Post your errors message and any console output you see pertaining to your client attempting a server connection.
