Reflect damage to stop teamkillers & teambleeders?
I almost exclusively play realism and find the biggest annoyances are teammates who shoot other teammates, whether by accident or on purpose.
If it is an accident, they should be learn to be more careful. I've seen newbies shoot teammates by accident, say sorry and then do it again. Sorry means nothing as words are cheap, hence they keep repeating the same mistakes.
And of course you have teamkillers who just join the game, kill the team and then quit. Vote kick is useless as they've quit before it is over. I just had one today.
I think there should be a vote option in the game to reflect all friendly fire damage back and the person doing it. So teamkillers/bleeders kill themselves. Not very realistic but it fixes the problem.
What do you think?

I am one of those Team Bleeders Most of the time it isn't me that purposely shoots them its the AI and online players that when I try to help them by killing a zombie on their back and it says Friendly Fire. Ricochet damage would be nice but I think the AI should just turn around and shoot you back.

While it's a good idea I'm sure you've also met the idiots who charge in front of you with a melee weapon and try to go apeshit only to be shot in the back by most of the team, or the dreadful L4D2 AI which runs in front of you seemingly to try and kill the zombie first, leaving you to accidentally blow a magnum round in their leg.
While it's a good idea you need to take idiots into the equation as well, because then they will become bigger terrors than even the tank.

In expert and realism I find it is rare that good players use melee weapons, simply because the normal infected do 20/10 damage if they hit in the front/back. The only places melee weapons are good are in doorways, corridors or corners and only vs. normal infected.
In realism the only time I use melee weapons is if I've got a Tier 1 main weapon and 1 normal pistol and there is a machete/katana about (both are the best melee weapons). Otherwise for me my preference is Magnum > 2 pistols > Machete > 1 pistol.
But yeah, I take your point that sometimes part of the blame for friendly fire is because teammates run in front of you suddenly, especially bots. Also a lot of newer players to expert or realism just stand in the middle of the road when a horde comes and complain you don't cover them . When that happens the only way you can cover them without hitting them is with an AR using 1-2 shot bursts, a sniper rifle or magnum.
Maybe have an option where damage is reflected only for human-to-human friendly fire or at a certain ratio, e.g. 75% back to the shooter and 25% to the "accidental" target.

My preference of secondary weapon is situational, if I'm on easy (I really never touch it, it's too simple) or normal mode since the damage is so minimal everyone can just charge through with a frying pan and go batshit insane. Advanced and expert modes however I will always go for a magnum with a shotgun as my primary (if things get close, I mainly choose the magnum for far targets and incapped).
