    VS. Reward the best player .

    Just an idea that could liven up VS. I think this game needs a boost.

    I think there should be a reward for the best player for each round. That reward should be the abilty to choose your infected the next round for your whole turn.

    Let the first round of VS be neutral and NO one gets the reward until the next round. Then ONE player on each team with the most "HERO" points gets to pick the S.I. they want to play as (as long as they are not in use) the entire next level.

    You would get one hero point everytime you protected, saved, healed, defib'd, helped up and gave pills/addr. to any survivor.

    This would make alot of good players stick around in games when they have garbage players on their team. And this would force alot of selfish players to pay attention and play the game the way it should be played.

    Ya sure alot of snotty players would start fighting over kills and who saved who. But i would rather them be fighting over who saved me than not caring at all.

    I dunno...

    Maybe its just me trying to find a way to make it so i "NEVER" get the spitter and im "ALWAYS" the hunter. I swear im the only guy that thinks this game would have been better with S.I. selection for everyone,,,but what ever. AT least one player getting that abilty gives you something to fight for.

    What do u guys think?

    I don't know if I'd make it obligatory in all games, but I reckon it'd be an interesting option for vs matches (especially in L4D2) because it would encourage people to play the game the way it's meant to be played. I don't think it's giving a huge advantage to the infected team letting one player choose which SI they want to be either, so it's not like you'd suddenly be completely unbalancing the whole mode.

    The only problem I can forsee is two players working together to abuse the score system (e.g. giving each other pills/ healing each other/ incapping then picking each other up). Also, it might put off the newbs (especially on L4D) if they never get to play as the smoker/hunter and get stuck with the boomer the whole time!

    But yeah, I reckon it'd encourage everyone to stay in the game longer if they have an individual (not just a group-based) goal to achieve in each stage.

    Im all for putting SI selection in for everyone, so long as there is an SI cap. If everyone on the teams chooses hunter, its going to be dumb.

    Well the way i look at it you would probably get the bulk of your points for shooting common infecteds that swarm a player and saving them from SI.


    Although your probably right about the pills/addr. Maybe make it so it doesn't work for those items.

    But hey, if someone wants to incap someone and then heal them for a only 2 hero points be my guest... It would be faster to shoot 2 normal zombies off a player..

    Also make it so you can't keep track of your hero points unless you do it manually. That way players have no clue whos got the most hero points until the end of the round.

    And i agree that this wouldn't work so well in L4D1. But in L4D2 it would be great.

    Ya,,lol. Alot of players will always try to get the job done with the least amount of effort possible.

    So ya a SI cap would be a must. Although i wouldn't mind at least 2 hunters back in the mix.

    I figure at least with only one player having the abilty to choose who they're gonna pick it would make so not everyone could go nuts with this feature.

    I'd have to agree on the pills/adrenaline but otherwise it's a good idea.

    Its sounds like a good idea.
    But it would probably make your team hate you if you got it.
    like if you kept choosing the spitter, over and over.

    Maybe what it should do is give you the tank, and give all your SI a little bit of a damage bonus. i think that sounds reasonable.

    Silver Cyrus has a good idea that instead of choosing an SI you get the tank.

    Personally i still luv the tank being random..


    But the way i look at it is. If someone kept picking the same S.I. it would be his/her choice. After all, they earned it by getting the most points.

    But instead of just using it to be your best or most favored S.I. you could also make sure you have the best S.I. for the moment needed.

    If someone just wanted to use the spitter thats fine buy me. At least shes in the hands of someone who actually likes using her. Me i would probably always pick the hunter or jockey , but if a certain situation came where another S.I. was needed I would switch it up.

    I think it would be fun if you're playing against a player you know and he/shes got the most 'hero' points on a level. Especially if you new what S.I. hes/shes best with. Everyone i play with has at least one or two S.I. they are REALLY good with. It would be fun to see what they could do through a whole level if they had the chance.

    That ruins it for your teammates though, and to me it also ruins the feel of the game. It is a huge team based system, sometimes it isn't about points it's about strategy, case in point, I played the spitter in the finale of DeCe and I did zero damage practically because my focus was hitting the cans, and yes I know that is a finale level, but still sometimes just blinding someone with a boom to buy your teammates some time, even if it ends in no damage.

    To me if this was implemented it would cause new people to not want to play, I feel like a lot of the ideas for this game that are thrown around on most sites are for those that are really good at the game, but to me, this is supposed to be a game that anyone can pick up and give a go, you start giving the winner every round what they want and guess what, chances are they're going to keep obliterating everyone.

    well, there's a problem wit that. people would be infinitely spawning as a charger, and that would be horribly overpowered for a pub game. in almost every pub game i've been in, if i get grabbed by a charger i take a ton of damage, it would just end up being overpowered.

    but i have a solution to that. being the "MVP" or "hero" for your team gives you the ability to choose what infected you are. but, after choosing one infected, you have to spawn as 2 different ones before you can choose that one again.
    for example if i wanted to spawn as a hunter, i just choose that. then once i die i choose a charger, then a smoker, then i can pick the hunter again. this still lets the player choose, but stops them from choosing the same one every time.


    and if i remember correctly, trading pills/adrenalin wouldn't be a problem. in L4D there was a achievement for giving players pills, and i tried to get it quickly by passing the pills back and fourth. it didn't work, it only counted the first time i passed them.

    to add onto the "hero points" idea, maybe you could get more for healing people with less health, like you get 2 points if they are over 50 health, but you get 4 points if they are under 20 health, and you get 8 points if they are black and white. so it encourages you to heal teammates, but also encourages you to wait until they actually need it.

    just a few more "hero points" ideas i can throw out there.

    saving teammates from SI gives you a little more points if you save them faster.

    friendly fire makes you lose points (maybe 0.1-0.5 points for every time you shoot a teammate)

    being very far away from your team causes your points to slowly decrease. but as long as you're in the general area of at least 1 teammate they won't decrease.

    that's all i got for now, i'll post again if i get any more ideas that may work.
