    Timeout after connecting to server

    Hi all - Love this game. I was playing it on my old computer with no problems.

    I have just bought a Dell I5 laptop with Windows 7. Whenever I try to connect to a server one of two things happens.

    1. during the connecting screen my internet router crashes.

    or

    2. join the game but in less than 10 seconds I loose connection to the server (but remain connected to the internet.


    I have tried - uninstalling l4d2 and reinstalling.
    Lowering my "rate" to 4000.
    Selecting a slower connection speed.
    Connecting in my old network dongle (from the working pc)
    updating my wireless drivers
    Turning off my routers firewall.


    I can play other games on the internet without problems (COD MW) although have similar issues when I try to play CSS

    Please help - google hasn't turned up any more ideas other than connect via a wire direct which just isn't appropriate for where I am living

    Problem fixed -


    Right click on Network Adapter > Properties

    Disabled QOS
    Disabled TCP/IP v6

    hey I still got problems with it..i dont realy understand how to fix it like you..could you help me pls?... i dont know where to find my network adapter

    Ok - this did not sort the problem.

    Any suggestions?

    (feeling that this is the last time I buy a steam game....)

    Have played with turning Windows (7) firewall off.
    Turning router firewall off
    deleting Clientregistryblob....

    I managed to play a few games last night.... I don't understand why it then stopped working the next day :s

    Ok so I restarted my L4D2 - and joined a server played a game no problems
