Pistol Vs Melee Weapons?

Just wondering what is more effective in versus mode; pistols or a melee weapon. Or 2 ppl with pistols and 2 with melee weapons.

Depends on the map. For the most part, melee weapons work better, though. That's mainly because the mass amount of ammo and over powered weapons L4D2 gives you.

It all depends on whats you main weapons is.

If you are gonna go with shotties then i think its almost a given then you use pistols or a magnum.

If you use scoped rifles or machine guns then melee weapons are almost a must.

But when it comes to clearing hordes and killing up close Shotties > Melee weapons.

I think melee weapons, since they kill in 1-2 hits on most SI.

Usually melee, especially if my main weapon is long range such as the military sniper, which I love using. If my main weapon is a shotgun, I might take the pistols or a deagle, but even still I often favour melee weapons. They're great for getting the zombies off you, which is much more of a problem in L4D2 for a variety of reasons.

Even if I have a shotgun if a melee weapon is available to me I take it a good 8/10 times. The other 2 is if I am in the mood for a magnum. Melee's, for me at least, completely eliminate the threat of a solo boomer or hoard. I love them all (besides the baton, ugh, i hate the baton lol but i'll take it over pistols).

Single pistol can be fun to fuck with though. It's fast reload and good aim make it a practical weapon, but don't expect to be special killer because even if you shoot 3 times first your friend will steal the kill with on shot of their teir 2.

I was pubstomping the other day and played one whole map with just the single pistol. It was challenging and fun. I did come in 4th in general D though

If I have any trust in my team at all, I go for a magnum, just so I can save people from SI while incapped. I never use double pistols

Best part about everyone hating pistols. Theres always 2 pistols lying around for me..MuahhaaA!

For me i rather go for a double pisatol...for any situation because if killing a boomer is a huge sacrifice and just summoning more Hordes...for melee i only use for narrow places and a possible close quarters combat...
