    L4D2 shutting off.

    hi.

I've had l4d2 for a little while now, and have always played it on my computer.
Now I got a laptop, and I installed L4D2 on it.
when i played the cold stream beta on single player 2 days ago, everything was just fine.
but today when i tried it again, as soon as i connect (even on single player) the game just randomly shuts off.
Everytime I try to start the game, it tells me that my video card is not recognized (its a pretty new one, so i guess thats understandable...).
So my friend installed new drivers for me.
after that, we checked if the firewall is blocking the game or not. it wasn't.
I use someone else's internet connection atm, but the signal is good.

I don't get why the game keeps shutting off.
    can ayone help me?

    Info bout my laptop:

    Intel® Core™ i7-2630QM Processor 2, GHz with Turbo Boost
    Windows® 7 Home Premium
    4.096 MB Memory
    500 GB Hard Disk
    2GB NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 540M Graphics Card

Right click on L4D2 on Steam > Properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity of Game Cache.

    See if that works.
I'm an idiot and I can't follow directions. So now I'm also banned.

when i did it, it said something about one file not being good and it will be reacquired.
but my friend already appears to have done something similiar, so i dont think it's gonna work.

That means one file is not correct. If you haven't, try it again now.
If that doesn't work, do a total re-install of L4D2.

I have the same problem as you. My system specs are also the same as yours besides me having 6GB RAM. I managed to get it to stop shutting off by putting the shader detail to medium.

    this worked, thank you.

ill probably have to wait for driver-updates or valve recognizing my graphics card before i can put shader detail on high or very high.
but at least it doesnt shut off anymore.
