Left 4 dead 2 and the BAD REPS it brings.

Okay, so after reading numerous threads on this bored... Its safe to say that "Left 4 dead" has one of the worst/meanest player base there is (according to most on here). And I've seen that myself in a lot of cases.

The post here is about the bad reps it brings. I really only play this game a lot, so i know the reps come from here. The others are ones I barely play on live. Anyway, i get a lot of "Trash talking" reps when I don't even use a mic.
My guess is that people quickly go to bad rep me, and trash talk is the first one, so that could be why its marked. But even then, its always usually after I confront someone or if their team loses.

When i say confront someone, i don't mean trash talk. SOMETIMES (rarely) ill send a message asking why someone quit, and they will lie and say "They had to go" though theyre in a different l4d game, and the other players quit at the same time. It gets annoying to see a constant "Server shutting down" and that is really the only time i do say something.

Does anyone else get these bogus reps? Its bringing down my rep for no reason. I know it doesn't do much, but it gets really annoying. I got a few friends to finally get me to a decent rep today, and yet after a game, it went down by 5 points by the opposing team that got mad and quit.
So now my rep is currently on 70 percent preferred.

People use the rep system for all the wrong reasons. M$ should just do away with it in my opinion.

If you notice, it's mostly the "Pro" players that give out bad rep

Lol.. Rep is practically useless on xbl. It's a way for people to get high and mighty thinking it'll affect you or upset you that someone on a gaming platform dislikes you for no apparent reason.

But on the subject, I'm going to admit I've trashtalked, raged, etc. etc. in games, but half the time, I'm in a party and the people in my game wouldn't know what I'm saying or doing really. They can't accuse me of trashtalking unless I send them messages or invite them/go to gamechat, but my trash-talking rating is pretty high, as well as some of my other reps. I think I'm at 70 avoided or something now. XD

Yes, it is constantly abused...I think they should do away with it too. You're right, it seems the "pro" players are the ones that like to bad rep, or cause trouble. Most of the "newbies" or whatever, although not usually good players, are still the nicest most of the time.

Killerjay, yeah i know a bunch of people that will jokingly trash talk on the mic or mess around and i have no problem with that lol. It's just the ones that mark trash talking just for the hell of it. I think that Microsoft ATLEAST needs to make the rep NOT anonymous... It would avoid a lot of negative reps, for sure. And i hate to sound like a kid, but yes, i'd be like a little kid and bad rep someone that did it to me what can i say?

70 percent avoided?! hahah im sure i'll be there before long

Like i said, people get butthurt if you're winning or leave a game because of a connection or something came up in real life etc..so they give out bad rep just for no reason.

    I agree....

At one time I was over 80% prefer but now I'm at like 45% prefer and it drops on occasion. I hardly ever trashtalk or do anything "mean" on my main account however it doesn't seem to matter. Most players get all butt hurt because they lose and click "avoid" for various reasons. I hardly ever prefer or avoid anyone unless it's a "prefer" for players on my friends list.

I had my trolling account down to 8% prefer but then some douche bumped it up to 13%

Best part is that I just got this new account a month ago and now I'm already hated almost. :P

I jokingly trashtalk though, if I invite a pub or someone to a party and start trashtalking, 90% of the time, I'm joking. Hell, I joke trashtalk to my own friends xD

I don't ever use the rep function. Again, it's useless. But if people think it's useful, then they need a slap across the face with an oar to knock sense into them.

Yeah, god forbid something in real life happen, like losing connection

Sir Diealotz, agreed. I really only think the "preferred" option should be recommended. If you find a player good, but your friends list is full, that'd be ideal. If you don't like how someone plays, find another game if you happen to get joined with them in the future, but instead they go bad rep you or votekick you. Hahah to your trolling account, i might have to make one of those myself and get a laugh or two at the jerks on there

KillerJay, thats insane.. To think some people do make entirely new accounts to avoid their rep, and then it ends up there 2 days later haha. Yeah, the system is useless. Most of the time your visible starred rep isnt even changed. So its not like other players see anything except your stars. Maybe the rep system is microsofts attempt at causing depression to those that sleep, eat, and make babies with their xboxs by insisting the gaming world hates them, ha.

L4D2 is the only game I play online, so all my rep is from it.

The weirdest thing is, I have some bad rep from offensive language, and I swear down, cross my heart, I have never, ever sworn on XBL.
