Sniper Role
Is it me or is the ghillie suit in COD4 incredibly hard to see in any woodland map. I myself mainly only play sniper. I've been chased on numerous occasions and just went prone and the attacker couldn't find. When he did normally just by spraying the grass when I saw the kill cam it was like I just disappeared. I remember one map it was me on one team and Rage and Fallen on the other. I was almost never killed sneaking around in my lil ghillie suit. I've surprise the hell out of them. Anyway just thought I see if anyone else thinks the same.

Re: Sniper Role
Axe,
I suppose it is more effective in capable, experienced hands than it is for your average player. In BF2, snipers usually stick out like sore thumbs, but the graphics are arguably better in COD so the sniper blends in better. BF2 would have snipers floating in mid air if you looked at them at a distance when they were in grass because the grass would not draw at that distance.
I have not lost track of a sniper in COD, and I don't usually play one because the game is so fast moving and the kill zones are rarely large enough for my style of play. As far as not finding snipers, the kill-cam pretty much ruins the surprise and challenge of finding the bastard that keeps capping you. Joe

Re: Sniper Role
Yea, I've been really disappointed with the BF2 graphics pertaining to being a sniper. It's frankly horrible. COD4 is really fast passed. It normally takes me forever to get a single kill or get the perfect shot. I guess I like the feeling of when I do kill someone imagining their reaction. To bad the sniper physics aren't as good in BF2 as they are in COD4.

Re: Sniper Role
Im actaully starting to wonder if you prone in grassy areas if the game enhances your stealthiness....For example...normally if you look around hard enough at an area where a sniper is prone, you may be able to pick them out, but on cod4 I've chased people down only to turn a corner and they have disappeared. They kill me suddenly...I watch the kill cam and they were directly in my line of sight. I am think it may make you slightly "Invisible". Im not sure though...They work well nonetheless

Re: Sniper Role
The suit can be very effective, that's agreed.
What I get a kick out of, though, is people bitching about the kill cam giving away the position of the sniper.
Maybe it's from the old Desert Combat days when you could take a shot from a mile and a half away, but I've learned that, as a sniper, you wait patiently, take a shot, then get up and MOVE. Your one shot is enough to give you away.
Being a sniper isn't about sitting around and waiting for the enemy to come to you, it's about being invisible, and going after the enemy. You get settled in, take a shot, then move.
I do exactly what the previous poster said, I usually chuck my secondary and pick up a dropped SMG or Shotgun. My current favorite SMG is the AK-74u. That way I have some close-quarters firepower, though the M21 is pretty good for that, just akward.
I know we had this debate in another thread, but the Kill Cam has taught me a lot about how to move / keep my eyes open in COD4, and it's actually helped me out in other games, too.
Bottom line - take your shot, get up and MOVE. Then you don't have to worry about the Kill Cam "Giving you away".

Re: Sniper Role
i have to pull the bs card on this one. If you position is not compromised there is no reason to move. I was in a force recon unit in the United States Marine Corps and ill tell you like i tell everyone else that one shot does not always give your position away especially if its shot from a great distance. 1 shot 1 kill is a good motto but that stupid ass kill cam is retarded unless your in a game mode that you don't re spawn till the end of the round. In the real world after you die you don't just appear 20 feet away from the person that just killed you. Its a game but kill cam kills the tactical advantage of a certain playing style weather you agree with it or not. How many times have you seen the person that killed you in that kill cam and said hell no i am gonna go get that fucker and went right after him in the place he just killed you and start nade spamming i have seen it over and over again and it is freaking retarded. so tell me what kind of military experence do you have Magikfingers!
