And I play it just fine with decent enough graphics and I've not seen many bugs. COD4 compared to 2142=completely different. COD4 is so much faster with accurate hit boxes and very realistic game play (except for the fact that you can kill someone by hitting them in the head with a flash bang WHAT THE CRAP!?) Also in HC you die in about one shot meaning you have almost no chance to save yourself if the enemy gets the jump on you unless he can't aim correctly. It's a game mostly based on how fast you can react and how fast you can aim and shoot properly. Very closed in you'll find yourself in a lot of places where you can feel the enemy breathing in your face. Also no vehicles

Re: Go on...convince me
Well i'll grant that the story was certainly fun to play through (and as an aliens fan, i enjoyed the references in the first mission immensely.)
My online experience is somewhat limited. One of my first games was an HQ Lot game...which degenerated into a massive 'nade storm punctuated by helicopters and chained airstrikes.
As for how it compares to 2142... Smaller scale, much faster paced, objectives are structured more similarly to TF2, visually stunning (and demanding), entirely infantry based.
And now, it may have been because i didn't get a chance to play CoD4 online on the TTP server, but i'd say that as far as team cohesion goes... Well there aren't squads or CO's to direct everyone so perhaps its a much more..democratic process (potentially, all the servers i'd played on had fallen into anarchy)? I suppose that its more similar to TF2 in terms of teamwork than 2142. But then coordination of the multi-kill assets is very important for a team (multiple UAVs at once...) And then also, the fact that if the enemy is close enough they can hear your VoIP requires a different kind of coordination than either the two games.
Your health recovers over time in this game. So if you run into someone make sure you kill them, or hound them till they're dead.
I too was thinking of picking this up again.
*shrug* Its certainly different than the other two games.
Really, i'd just suggest picking up PR if you were looking for some really instense, time consuming, and demanding games. :9

No vehicles doesn't bother me because I don't really like them and you don't get them in CS, DoD, or TF2 and I really enjoy those games. As long as the maps aren't insanely large like BF2 or 2142 where walking on foot on such a huge map is a pain in the ass.
Still not sure I'd like the HC mode though with no HUD or anything.

Re: Go on...convince me
sounds interesting...I just haven't heard enough good stuff about it to get me going...
And sorry Frag, but right now anything is better than FFOW...sure, it has potential, but right now it was a wast of money...something I do not have a lot of at the moment.
I like vehicles, so that makes me sad...but I can get over that. I like CP, but I like CTF a lot more...up until 2142, I was much more into CTF than anything else.
I can get over the no squads since you can still all talk to each other.
Really, up until now, the only good stuff I heard was about the graphics...and let's face it, graphics only take it so far. Otherwise I would still be playing the Mist/Ryven stuff...

Angell,
You gave the beat reason to buy the game in your original post:
