    Re: Left 4 Dead news/update

I wonder if other infected will be allowed to aid the tank during his charge? In the videos I've seen if you search on you tube of the beta and such, the tank is usually attacking alone except for the final part where there's two. I don't like the solo idea but maybe it works with balance since he's such a huge problem for the survivors. Like hunters in Halo to the max

I remember the challenge to kill a Hunter with a pistol on legendary in Halo 2 with that crappy pistol... Pretty simple, but I want to see it done here to

And I call the smoker :P

I could be wrong... Here it appears that the Hunter was indeed aided by near by Infected before he got taken down.

Based off this quote in the Smoker's description...

... I'd say it's very likely there is, in fact, VoIP.

There's gotta be. They can't leave it out, it's like going blind into war.

Meh, when I reread the preview linked to the Weapons overview, it looks like the voice system is a traditional Comm Rose system. So, no word on real VoIP. We'll see.

November 2008's so far away, though

How would TTP be handling this? Since it sounds as though there's a maximum of 8 players per server, I'd imagine we'd need at least two servers. And then we've got the issues of Co-Op versus Deathmatch and the difficulty levels (I'd say Hard, since having the Witch around sounds like fun)... at least it'll be a good way of convincing people to shell out for a reserved slot

And why isn't this an article?

    3) The "chat menu" is great for skilled players who want to maximize the
game's "cinematic" feel by only using and hearing the voices of the in-game
characters. However, full support for voice-over-IP is available just like
other Source games such as Team Fortress 2 or Counter-Strike:Source.
    Rejoyce.

We knew it all along... But it's good to hear it Valve isn't stupid and knows better than to have a game without VOIP. Check Left 4 dead on youtube and you'll find plenty of game play vids, as far as I can tell it looks quite smooth

I wouldnt think the cost and power of this type of server wouldnt be the same as a 64 man BF2 server... Maybe there will be a waiting room where you can join up with a few friends and then head to a server (kind of like PS3 GTA:IV multi-player).
