    I simultaneously agree with Bunni & QuickLightning. I want to be able to get on whenever I want and don't want to exclude new blood.

    Hence my original suggestion.

    But, as STJ said, TTP will make sure in the long run we can accommodate the regs and the pubbers.

    4 servers 4 players each = 16 players total. the lowest population possible of all TTP games. DoD and CS have 22, and TF2 has 24...I hope I make it into a server...

    ya guys you are forgetting about coop, which is what half the population (if not more) will be trying to do. We will need im guessing 1-2 vs servers (8 players each) and maybe 6-7 coops (4 players each) considering that every night the 4 coop servers are packed...
    so that would give us 32-44 player slots... Reasonable...

    These points have not been really hit on much yet. Considering release is still a little while away, we have some time to decide. You can bet on TTP hosting enough servers to accomidate all the possible reservists that will be pouring in for this game (once a mod supporting reserve slots is live, that is). Rest assured that those that want to play co-op and those that want to play versus will both have options eventually.

    Go read up on reviewers impressions on Versus mode and it will become apparent that Versus is what people will be wanting to play long-term.

    So our pub servers will most likely just be Versus. For people that want Coop, we can use match servers for that. It also allows us to get more people playing with less resources.

    For instance in your scenario it took 7 public instances to get to 32 people. In my scenario it just takes 4 instances. Server hosting logistics are on the side of the pub servers being Versus.

    I am also imagining that co-op will get a little old when we all get uber good at the game. The ai will struggle to keep up. Versus will change drastically from game to game depending on who is controlling the ai....

    Versus is also a form of co-op, you and 3 buddies, vs 4 other people......

    agreed.

    to be honest though, i want to take in the whole story before i get into the versus mode...

    unless verses is the exact same plot as co-op, just with people controlling the bosses.

    You also know what resources ttp has lol, im in the dark just guessing how things are setup and whats on which boxes :P
