Versus is also a form of co-op, you and 3 buddies, vs 4 other people......
    agreed.

to be honest though, i want to take in the whole story before i get into the versus mode...

unless verses is the exact same plot as co-op, just with people controlling the bosses.

As far as I can tell, the game is the same in versus as it is in coop, just the bosses are player controlled.

Vs. and Co-op are different. In Vs, it's more like a tournament. Whoever can get the most points wins. In C-op, it's following the story line.
Me: "But the Gunslinger is so much more fun..."
Langrad: "We're here to win, not to..."
    Me: "Have fun?" "Hahaha"

I want to go through the story mode too. Cant you just Create A Lobby and invite 3 friends to run through it?

I'm not really sure what you're getting at here, Kyle.

Where is the story in co-op? All I'm seeing is a game that goes straight to action from the beggining. There is no character development or backstory to be found in the demo. How would this play out any differently in versus mode? Would you please also link to relevant articles supporting any additional differences you are hearing about?

The only difference between the two that I am seeing is switching sides betwen games and playing as the bosses rather than immediately going on to the next map. Plus a score comparision at the end of each scenario that determines who "wins."

I guess the game will likely switch teams when all the survivors die so you will not be able to finish the levels if you do really poorly as well. If that is true, that will be the biggest change that I see.

Yes, in Co-op the game isnt highly scored and you play to 'win' by reaching each safe room and advancing the campaign to the next stage until the final big fight at the end. 'Winning' is just surviving, though each player is rated between the other 3.

In VS mode each 'team' takes a turn on each stage of the map prior to advancing the campaign, hell you probably dont even need the maps in campaign order. The objectives are similar, the Survivors need to live and advance and 'survive' but you get a more traditional score type result at the end of each map and the side with more points wins. The Survivors could live and reach the safe room, but the infected still win the round.
    2 Very different experiences.
I fully expect that after awhile the VS mode will be by far the more played mode though I would like to see TTP host a couple co-op instances at least at first.

The storyline is kind of like a movie. No Mercy is a bunch of sublevels to get to the rooftop of the hospital. No real developing storylines (at least it doesnt look like it), but it would be interesting to go through the sublevels in order with 3 other people.

    As Mustafah pointed out:

Dead Air - Another urban campaign that transpires almost entirely on rooftops.
    Death Toll - Murky Countryside

    Re: L4D & Reserve slots

Each of the 4 campaigns consist of 5 individual maps that are intended to be played in order and will form and overall story arch of you and your 3 buddies trying to escape from the infected zombies.
No there isnt a really deep plot but the game is still intending to tell a story as you play through the campaigns.

There is some character development and back story if you listen to the characters during the quiet intervals.

I've heard Louis talk about how he's glad he went to practice at the rifle range during his lunch break even though his coworkers thought it was stupid.

I'm pretty sure the girl and Louis are dating as well.
enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

Reviewer impressions of Versus mode, which reveals a bit about it
