Then even though I don't have the game I vote 4 chicks for 2 reasons. First, it might make the game more appealing, and would make up for the fact that Steam, EA, et al are male biased in all of their games. Second, it seems that the ladies, Frau, Dusty, etc. kick all the guys' asses anyway.

Well if that were the case on the survivors' side, there we would be too much emphasis on continuity. The game was designed to be played in a nearly completely free-form way (other than following one path, with small branches to get to the finale), and designed to be unique each play through. If you started giving certain characters advantages with certain guns, it encourages the player to only pick those weapons, and disregard all others.
In L4D, as everyone already knows, you have to be as efficient as possible, which means picking the right weapons for the occasion/level. If you start giving players weapon specialties, they no longer feel the need to pick the right weapons for certain occasions.
Oh and walkerxes... You want to replace Louis too?"In matters of style, swim with the currents... in matters of principle, stand like a rock."

Or maybe it would require even more teamwork. Instead of just deciding which guns to pick up you also need to decide who gets which one. I see the pros and cons to both, but there is diversity in the infected play styles, so why not in he survivors?

Re: Replace Francis With Zoey's Twin Sister
"I've pulled you over for speeding, Ma'am. Could I see your drivers license?"
"What's a license" replied the blonde, instantly giving away the fact that she was as dumb as a stump.
"It's usually in your wallet," replied the officer. After fumbling for a few minutes, the driver managed to find it. "Now may I see your registration?" asked the cop.
"Registration..... what's that....?" asked the blonde.
"It's usually in your glove compartment." said the cop impatiently. After some more fumbling, she found the registration.
"I'll be back in a minute." said the cop and walked back to his car. The officer phoned into the dispatch to run a check on the woman's license and registration. After a few moments, the dispatcher came back, "Ummm... is this woman driving a red sports car?"
"Yes." replied the officer
"Is she a drop dead gorgeous blonde?" asked the dispatcher
"Uh... yes." replied the cop.
"Here's what you do." said the dispatcher. "Give her the stuff back, and drop your pants."
"What!!? I can't do that. Its... inappropriate." exclaimed the cop.
"Trust me. Just do it." said the dispatcher.
So the cop goes back to the car, gives back the license and registration and drops his pants, just as the dispatcher said.
The blonde looks down and sighs..... "Ohh no... not another breathalyzer......"
