Depends on your playstyle and your weapons.

For weapons, the most popular are the MP5, AK74u, lol90 (for SMGs), the AK47, M4, M16 (for rifles) and the M40A3, R700, and .50 cal (for snipers).

MP5+AK74u are near carbon copies in terms of performance, only differing in recoil, a bug, fire rate, and iron sights. P90 has 20 extra rounds, and fires faster with SLIGHTLY lowered damage. P90 is easy as shit but will get you scorned(because its so easy to use...), 74u is one of the most rewarding weapons when mastered because you move so quickly, and kill in the blink of an eye(Same with the MP5). All SMGs are hard to snipe with, and have low penetrating power.

The AK47, is one of the most powerful guns in the game. It walls with ease (and cuts through shit like butter with Deep Impact), kills insanely quickly at all ranges (even more so with Stopping Power), and doesn't have too insane a fire rate, so ammo isn't really a problem(Never is with Bandolier). The M4, is a little less powerful and has almost no walling ability. It makes up for it with a higher fire rate then the AK47, and almost no recoil (The AK's isn't at all bad though). The M16 is almost exactly the same as the M4, but its a little more bulky+ fires in 3 shot bursts.

M40A3= 5 rounds, little recoil, 1 shot kill with stopping power to the chest.
R700= 4 rounds, massive recoil, 1 shot kill to UPPER chest and head without stopping power.
.50 cal= 10 rounds, semi auto, enormous recoil, same damage as R700.



Theres a little weapon rundown for you, choose based on what sounds best by your preference, then describe your playstyle a bit. After that I can give you some recommendations on perks.

Setups that I swear by (And I believe a fair amount of CAL/TWL/CEVO/etc people use)

AK47 with bandolier+stopping power+deep impact, iron sights.
AK74u, same perks, iron sights.
(Silencer and Red Dot Sight decrease their damage)
M4 with above perks (Sometimes Dead Silence instead of Impact) and a silencer or Red Dot.
M40A3/R700 with clays (Or Bandolier if you're someone that lasts awhile), stopping power, and Iron Lungs, Deep Impact, or Dead Silence (Depending on your playstyle).

My advice to you;

Stop trying to make people fail

dont forget on maps that are S&D dead silence is always a plus and dont listen to cain he just hates when someone kills him with the p90

That I do, I admit it 

And you can forgo dead silence once you know when to sprint and when to keep your ass draggin on the ground in SnD.

always choose dead silence for SnD. when planting, shock and awe will win the map. to do this, silence is golden. you are easy to run up and slice through enemies, or even stand back with a silenced weapon, to clear the threat. when the enemy doesn't know where you are, or where you are going, they can't defend.

remember, SnD maps are quiet (except for your teammates tell you where they are), so you should be too! when you run anywhere on the maps without DS, they can hear and track you. this is why i ALWAYS bitch about people not having a silence kit.
