    Survivor Mode: The Alamo

Is anyone thinking of this idea? With the SDK coming out and the new survivor mode, I was thinking a TTP map based on the current Alamo would be interesting. I posted about it in the off topic servers and someone linked a version done to look like the Alamo in the time the battle happened, but not the current 'park'/tourist spot. I have been learning how to map with source and am interested in making levels for L4D if anyone else would like to collaborate with this.

That would be very cool. Survivor on the Almo? Sounds like the stage would be set for some epic battles to the death.

While you're at it, re-skin the infected to wear Mexican Army uniforms, for added authenticity.

Well I was thinking it would be more along the lines of the current Alamo 'park' as it is today with the survivors retreating there because of it being a safehouse. Thing is the safehouse has long been overrun and now they are in a bad spot trying to defend.

I had an idea that this would be the end finale for a campaign, but just doing one level in survivor mode seems less ambitious as my first foray into modding for L4D. Maybe if it works out well, then some satellite images of the area will give me ideas for levels that would happen before it.

It's a shame that Street View doesn't appear to be available from Google maps for that area.

You know there are a number of TTPers that live in San Antonio with easy access to the Alamo/Downtown area, including myself.

If there is certain info you need/want, I'm sure we can go around town and take some photos or get some maps and what not to try to help you out with the mapping/modeling.

The current Alamo Park might not be that great though since the actual building has few windows that people could come in through and in terms of a L4D map, I'm not sure you'd be able to get people in and out unless it was through 1 of the 2 ground door entrances.

Although they are suppose to be pretty thick doors, it could probably work and be modded for a decent map.

FYI, a number of places are off limits to camera's including the inside of the actual Alamo building so the best we could do there is just tell you how it looks.

    Thanks for the offers.

There are some images of the interior taken by professionals online that I have found with the help of others. I was thinking that since this is 2 weeks after the infection (or longer, we dont necessarily have to follow the L4D storyline exactly) then some of the thicker windows and such would be closed. I have also thought about just doing the interior, with the exterior grounds saved for a later date if it turns into a campaign. Basically you find a room or area inside the park building to defend.

If someone is going to go over there anyway and wants to walk through with a 'L4D' mindset then I would appreciate it, just don't be yelling 'hunter!' and 'boomer!' while you walk around.

Good thing I have it. That gives me the street detail of the exterior at least.

    Re: Survivor Mode: The Alamo

You should ask Kraker all about it. I'm sure he might have some good things to say from when we went down there when he came to visit. I didn't have L4D at the time, but I know he did so he might have been thinking about a few things here and there.

I can say myself, it wouldn't be a bad set up if you can build it right.

Also, there are talks here of them re-expanding the Alamo to its former glory and size, talking about closing a number of stores to get the space to be able to do it as well. So the "park" area might be bigger, so a larger size might be possible still if you are interested in that. Still just talks though at this point and since they'd have to close a number of places or relocate them, that is all it is at the moment.

Since I'm on Spring Break now, I might be able to head back down there and see if I can find some good shots to take and get some ground level views for you of everything like the surrounding areas and what not. For being Spring Break though, I have a number of things to do still though so we'll see how that goes.

Is there a certain time frame you want/need the info?
