    Re: What is it????

Thats whats fun about the game. Bettering yourself in all aspects of Special Infected, including Tank...
It's not fun if you're dragging your entire team down because you lack the ability to play one of the SIs while someone who's good with it is cursing their constant streams of boomers and smokers. The best you can do is immediately sacrifice the hunter and boomer and hope to god the director decides to switch it up. Would you feel similarly about TF2 if your class choice was forced?

I've got no problem learning to be better (it's one of the best things about picking up new games), but when it's dragging the team down it's not fun anymore - it's frustrating, for both me and my team.

And as far as etiquitte goes, I respond as soon as possible to game invites if I'm aware of them, whether I can attend or not. I'd figure that if someone says they can make it that the least you could do is save them a goddamn slot...

And tank is incredibly fun. It's also probably the easiest SI to learn - don't chase green survivors, don't get ignited, and stand between incapped survivors and the living survivors trying to reach them.

    Re: What is it????

Per. SI trading: I would rather not hear a bunch of "but IIIIIIIIIII want the smoker!" I'd rather hear "Ok... I'll try..."

Per. 'proper etiquitte' : Usually people do that. But usually people spam their friends list, then those friends spam thier list. Like it or not it more of a first come first serve basis, if your busy, your busy, do something else. Mostly following the fact that most L4Ders are impatient
Who knows maybe they got someone better and they'll have more fun but now I'm just being mean.

Haha I don't doubt they can find someone better, it's just irritating when I stop what I'm doing to game with someone that purports to be my friend then I get an "oh sorry it filled up" after I get there. Hence why my friends list has been pruned.

And I guess whining about spawns would just be a casualty of making the game more fun for organized teamplay. Who really gives a shit about pubs, anyway? L4D pubs make TF2/CSS pubs look like CEVO-quality gaming.

    Had to lol at that.
Me: "But the Gunslinger is so much more fun..."
Langrad: "We're here to win, not to..."
    Me: "Have fun?" "Hahaha"

    Re: What is it????

Here's your average L4D Vs pub:

    Survivor team:

Francis and Louis use their mics and agree to stick together. Francis makes sure everyone has their medkits while Louis is talking about gun selection. Bill grabs an uzi, opens the door, and immediately hares off on his own. Bill immediately gets pounced or smoked and sometimes boomed, too. Francis and Louis immediately ditch the idea of an organized attack plan and go to help Bill. Zoey is AFK. Francis and Louis rescue Bill. Bill is red. Zoey is still AFK. Bill gets pounced while trying to heal, Francis gets smoked, and Louis gets boomed. Louis fights his way to Francis, Francis rescues Bill, and the three try to recover. Zoey comes back from stroking it to images involving his mother and a dog and does his own thing with no communication. Zoey gets picked off. Zoey suddenly finds his mic, proceeds to spam either useless music or nerdrage and quits. Bill TKs Francis and leaves. Louis gets picked while trying to revive Francis. Francis and Louis quit in frustration.

    Infected:

Smoker smokes a random target. Hunter 1 intentionally pounces Smoker's target in order to get the points for himself. Hunter 2 is attempting to win a melee fight with a survivor. Boomer spawns in an obvious place, gets picked off immediately, and immediately quits after saying something about wallhacks. Hunter 1 and Smoker attempt to work together. Hunter 2 continues being useless. Survivors blitz, noticing Infected are down one man. Hunter 2 continues to get owned solo and ragequits. Survivors easily blitz past Smoker and Hunter 1. Hunter 2 and Boomer join, look at scores and progress, say something to the effect of "lol u guys suck", TK Smoker, and leave. Smoker and Hunter 1 leave in frustration.

Yeah, I don't fucking touch L4D without friends to play with. At least you can lone wolf it somewhat in Killing Floor.

    Re: What is it????

And I wonder why ttp has a server and why admins were appointed for it. Obviously NOT to get rid of the dicks in the world.

Seriously people, PLAY with pubs while playing with regs and admins. We need a player base here other than the occasional reg group. Get the dicks weeded out and get good players in TTP servers, make the TTP server a presence amoung L4D. Don't just sit back in the corner and say "Pub are non-teamplaying scumbags I will never play with them again" TTP is here to change that to "Oh joy I'm going to grab a few pubs and have a jolly time killing some zombies with teamplay on TTP!!!! What a good day this will be"

At the very least add 2 pubs and tell one to go to survivors and one infected. We need players, please don't pussy out on the pubs.

    Re: What is it????

    L4D has a very very simple equation... 4 / anything == fail

Even pubbers that understand that will win. I've been on the wrong end of a pubber team that has gotten rolled because the pubbers worked together well.

Whining about the hunters pizza? C'mon. The equation goes for the infected too. If you aren't doing a lot of damage and getting killed as a hunter then you fail at the above math as well. Infected have to coordinate their attacks and do it as one as well. Special infected die VERY easily and if the infected team is attacking piecemeal one at a time it's going to be a cakewalk even for poor pubbers. Simple as that. As a hunter you either wait for a boomer or smoker attack and pounce the correct ones... or you are used as a distraction to ALLOW the boomer or smoker to attack.

Not holding a spot... Nature of the game. There's no way to "hold a spot" for someone. If a group is trying to fill a few spots, everyone is probably trying to find people for that spot. So while I might invite Player X for the last spot, I don't know that someone else has invited Player Y... And I'm not going to ask Player Y to leave because they too probably left a game or stopped whatever they were doing to play L4D with us... If there was a way to reserve a spot for a specific player, then I'm sure we'd do that. But pruning people off your list because of the way the lobby mechanics are handled by the game is stupid. If I counted the number of times I've been invited and had it filled by the time I got there, and started nuking people off my list, I'd have no friends at all.

Krakkens and shit. stop tempting them.

But how do you get better at something if you give up at it because you suck?

Yeah first come first serve is what works best. Mine was more of a 'perfect world' scenario.
