Re: What is it????
Just got back from a trip, so I'm just skimming these posts. I'll just throw in my two cents about the original topic:
I think people get so riled up in this game because the teams are so small. If you are one on a team of four and know basic math, you will realize that you are one-fourth of the entire team, and therefore each member of the team owes the team a great deal of effort. Some things, like getting a boom or playing the tank, require even greater effort from a single member of that team. As a result, one screw-up can win or lose a game for the team. To win this game, you have to not only be better than the other team, but you also cannot make mistakes. Some people (myself included) take this standard of perfection almost or completely too far, especially if they feel they have shouldered the weight of the team's burden the whole game.
In summary: Because each member of a team carries such a heavy burden to perform, the best players play/train enough to become excellent, or even perfect. As a result, those excellent/"perfect" players become extremely riled when someone wastes their efforts, be it on accident or on purpose.WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMONS, BURN DOWN LIFE'S HOUSE

Re: What is it????
But how do you get better at something if you give up at it because you suck?
I said I'm not gonna play something I suck at if the team needs me to be useful to them. If we're already doing fine, sure, I'll play that class I suck at and try to get better at it. Every now and then you'll see me switch to Scout, Sniper, Demoman, or Soldier for that very reason (not that there's much room for an extra scout or sniper on a full server.) But if the team's struggling, I'm going to stick with something I know, like Medic, so that I can pull my own weight around and even help others pull theirs.
That's why I get pissed playing Infected on L4D. When you're dragging the team down, the goddamn game doesn't even give you the option of doing something you're better at... it just pretty much tells your team "well yeah you lose."

Re: What is it????
Thats basically saying I don't have the be good when the team is doing good itself.
The reason there is no option to switch is because there is no team when you are not trying your very best. Anyone can do decent and lose miserably but still have fun but when it gets to be a complaining match about why you hate the hunter or how I can't get the damn smoke I want, it doesn't do anything but ruin the experience for everyone else.
We get the point we all have things we hate and agrivate us, knowing when to control it is what we all need to train with.

The teams were evenly matched so no one was making much head way but we were ahead on points. I played my part, supported my team, healed them revived them, all the TTP tenets.
Part way through a map a boomer dropped right in front of me and instead of shoving it away I shot it. Yes, yes, I know, rookie mistake. My earphones exploded with 'who the fu(k did that who the fu(k did that!'. Well of course it was me. Vote kick. Up to that point I had a great time and I went on to have a great time the rest of the night playing pick up games. But those fellows....well I fear for their health. How are they going to handle the pressures of real life? It's not like one can vote kick ones teacher, or parents or employer.
Now I'm a big boy and I don't wear my feelings on my sleeve. I could really care less about being kicked. In fact I thought it kind of funny, like they packed up their toys and went home. But the point of my diatribe is this: if this means so much then play with others who feel the same way. There is an option to 'Play with friends only'. Use it. And to reciprocate, if I'm informed that I'm playing with 'Pro' players I'll happily leave them to their own devices.

Re: What is it????
If any 'pro' players kick vote you for not being at their level grab their steam id's and post them up. They do NOT deserve to be playing this game. At least on TTP servers they don't.
Although if you don't enjoy yelling for your life then vs. is not for youVS. being as competetive as it is will always lead to some sort of yelling depending if it's good or bad, its fun to be screaming for your life when there is a zombie eating you
Hope to play with you in-game where we play intensely and decently. :9]
BTW, you have yet to accept my friend request :P
